POP3 scanner not connecting

Here is what caused the same problem for me and how I fixed it.

Initially, I didn’t notice that the screw on the cable mounting plate protrudes out a bit. It’s likely that when I tried to push the USB-C end of the cable into the scanner, the screw protrusion kept the USB-C plug from seating deeply enough in the scanner to have a fully functional connection. The green light on the scanner came on, and I could make a Wi-Fi connection, but I always got “Scanner Disconnected” on a pure cable connection. As soon as I fully retracted the end of the screw into the mounting plate on the cable, I could fully seat the USB-C cable in the scanner and get “Scanner Connected.” I tightened the screw fully, but only after making a good USB-C connection.

I have still ordered a powered USB 3.0/3.2/USB-C hub as I don’t want to constantly plug in and unplug the scanner cable from a USB port on my computer. Replacing a USB hub with worn-out USB ports is cheaper than replacing or repairing an expensive desktop computer! :slightly_smiling_face:
