PC Specification (CPU / GPU)

Hi,

I’m about to purchase a POP3 plus and am planning to purchase a PC to match the requirements. I’m a bit if a noob so just wanted to make sure I understood correctly before buying some expensive kit.

So am I correct that the POP3 uses RevoScan 6. I’ve seen the PC spec requirements listed in the user manual for the software, but am I correct that there is flexibility in the CPU choice, but the list of compatible GPUs is limited?

I was looking at an Intel i5 14400F which benchmarks higher than the recommended i7 10700 so would this be suitable?

I was also looking at a GeForce RTX 5060 or would it need to be a GeForce RTX 3050? I was saw some posts which said that a good GPU wouldn’t be necessary because the POP3 isn’t a laser scanner.

Any clarity or guidance much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @dpstech

I7 10th Gen is very slow , get at least i7 12th Gen. You don’t need to much power for scanning but the processing will take forever using i7 10th Gen. Make sure you have at least 32GB of RAM , recomended 64GB

Regarding the GPU get RTX 4060 but not lower than RTX 3060 .

When you want full performance always use recommended system and don’t go for minimal system requirements as you gonna suffer from the lower performance.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Can I take it then, that a 14th generation i5 would work but would ideally be paired with the higher amount of RAM considering it benchmarks higher than the 10th gen i7?

Thanks

Hi @dpstech

Yes, a 14th Generation i5 (specifically the i5-14600K) is generally faster than a 12th Gen i7 (i7-12700K) in both single-threaded and multi-threaded tasks, despite being a lower tier. The 14th Gen i5 offers roughly 7-12% higher performance with faster architecture, higher clock speeds, and superior efficiency.

Brill. That answers all my questions. Thank you very much!

You are more than welcome @dpstech
Anytime !

Hello,
I just bought a 14700K to replace my 12700K

I’m curious to see how much faster scanning will be…

Best regards
Bernd

Hi Bern

Not only scanning but also processing should be 7-12% faster

Also depends what scanner you are using and how fast is your Hard Drive.
