It works very awkwardly in Revoscan because the center of rotation for the model is in the center of the original point cloud - if your object was on some platform or jig that helped you scan, and you removed it in postprocessing - now your center of rotation is outside of your model so rotating now is game of whack’a’mole. Also, it’s just manual transform, we have to eyeball it.
Honestly it’s much better to do it in the target software, at least the 3d navigation there will be better.
We asked for an ability to orient the scan based on clicked/selected polygons, ie. we select polygons on the bottom of the mesh, and Revoscan automatically orients the model so that bottom is perfectly horizontal. Same thing with axis’.

Most software use eyeballing even if you can select a face or side like in slicing software it is still eyeballing as it is actually impossible to find the true and real origin of that object after scanning .
The only true origin of the object is the moment the first frame fired on your scanner in relative to the object.
Each software use different origin for its import scene as well so I guess impossible task .
To make it perfect , Revopoint would need to introduce plugin to other software that would allow export the scan and place it automatic in the right position , anything else is waste of time. I said it before and I said it now .. it will never make everyone happy
Not sure what you mean.
You just point to a flat surface and say if it’s supposed to be horizontal or vertical - and the software rotates the mesh to make it so - Quick Surface does it, 3d printing software do it. I don’t need a true origin, I just want to orient it in a logical way.
Sure there are going to be organic objects that make it difficult, but then again we scan a lot of mechanical parts and we actually know for a fact that some surfaces are vertical or angles are straight.
We asked for that feature because this exact feature is missing in most 3d DCCs - mostly because they deal with objects created inside them with existing tools (that will result with the mesh oriented properly from the get go) and they don’t really have tools for working with 3d scans - and it’s not fair for us to expect these tools from them. That’s why it would be nice if the software dedicated to working with 3d scanned data had this feature and this way exported 3d scans already oriented properly.
If we have to eyeball it, then the feature is not really useful - we can do the same in our target DCC, just faster, because 3d navigation in them is much better than in Revoscan

I’m talking about the alignment feature that’s only in the Revo scan update. Is this available in the metro scan software because I have a metro y ultra. I’ve since downloaded the Revo scan and used the feature which it’s a nice update, it’s a pain if I need to scan my parts in metro scan and then bring the file over to Revo scan to align it.
Revoscan doesn’t look as polished as Metro scan and it lacks many features also.
Another question is why do you need to use another software to link the wireless scanning , why wouldn’t it just be built into the metro scan.
I also have a competitor Raptor Pro and all their software is easier to use and has the alignment transform feature and wireless scanning features all built into the single scanning software. This would make Revo can a great product, I just feel you guys have a great product with subpar software to support the consumer in ease of use and seamless integration.

Ah ok you mean that final alignment in 3D space? No Revo Metro don’t have it yet , it is a brand new feature in ReviScan 6 only that was just released , Revo Metro is an older software .
You don’t need another software to use your Metro scanner wireless.. unless you want to go 25 meters away from your computer … Then you need to use Revo Mirror otherwise you can connect wireless direct via Revo Metro without any other software.
Thanks for the clarification.. so just so I understand this correctly. We use Revo scan now for the metro y ultra instead of the metro scan? Because I see there are many more functions for the metro scan and the. Revoscan 6?
Please clarify this so I can download the appropriate software to do the alignment after scan and editing the scans. Because alignment is a long awaited feature..
The scanner is a great product and just want the software to be easy also like the competitor scan.

Revo Metro is the only software to use with Metro series scanners, it will not connect in RevoScan 6 , you should also not use MetroY projects in RevoScan 6 as they use totally different algorithms and the results may be not as independent.
On the Download page you can see list if all scanners that will works with Metro scanners.
Sorry I don’t use the competitor software so I don’t know much about it. Don’t expect Revopoint to copy it as that is not possible. Many people disliked the other software so it depends on individual perspective.
If you have a feedback ir suggestion you can always share it under the Feedback/Suggestion section if the forum , but avoid mention any competitors software as that is against the forum TOS.
so when will this be available got the metro series scanners?

I don’t understand how the Revo Metro series software lags so far behind the Revo Scan software. The Metro series users are your prosumers who paid a premium for the product - please, please, start updating Revo Metro more frequently.

I don’t have information regarding when the feature will be added , there is lots things on the plate with lots of new things , so there is a time line when new features will be added to Revo Metro. It happens organically.

Revo Metro is not behind Revo Scan 6 , beside the new feature , Revo Metro algorithms are specific for Metro Series and will be updating accordingly as always to improve the scanners.
