Hi, got my metro y pro yesterday, got it connected last night and did some testing. fired up computer this morning and now it won’t connect. it is hooked up the same way i had it hooked up last night- using the power cord and usb c cable. the metro y pro is on i can hear the fan and the led ring is on and green.
any ideas? tried restarting computer a few times, tried different order of plugging things in etc, restarting software..

Hi @martin8907

Can you please check if you can connect it via WiFi to see if the hardware still works just fine ? Do not connect the USB c to your computer while using it via WiFi

Make sure the auto connection on WiFi is off to avoid shutting down the MetroY Pro WiFi network, since it don’t have or use Internet .
System usually switching to another WiFi if no Internet is detected .

After you test it we can move forward with next solution .

hi yes it does connect via wifi, although super slow to transmit all the frames so would love to use the cable again. tried updating drivers/chipset drivers but they all said they were up to date. my trackit still connects just fine to the same usb c port

Ok I just wanted to make sure the hardware is working fine and reboot properly.

The WiFi suppose to give you also maximum speed regardless if it is a cable or not .

I do had that issue and still have as only my thunderbolt port responses to MetroY Pro but all others USB 3.0 don’t or it says Hardware not recognized sometimes yet all scanners works just fine . New laptop

Since you already tried updating the chip set drivers , I will have to have conversation about it with the team this evening to find better solution.

If you don’t want to wait , you can contact customer@revopoint3d.com and include link to this thread to speed up the service .

I will have more info in about 6-7 hours from now on when the office opens again so I can reach out to the technician directly .

right on- appreciate it! ill keep testing with wifi for now

I just connected my new Metro Y Pro today and I can only connect via Wifi too. I thought it was my computer but I guess not. I would love to have this just work and not return it.

It may be your system unpowered USB port

In 99% it has nothing to do with the scanner.

Change ports , get USB powered hub , reinstall your USB drivers . Make sure you have USB C 3.0 port at least

That’s all you can do in this case .

We just had another threads about it

Didn’t want to make a new thread as I’m getting the same thing. I can connect via Wifi ok-ish (it does love to drop every now and again) but USB is a no go. I just hear it cycling on and off and Revo’s scanning software doesn’t pick it up at all.

Is is true it needs to draw power over USB? doesn’t it have that power block for this exact reason?

Hi @JamesC

You should always start a new thread, because I don’t know what scanner you are using and what system.

but anyway , please contact customer@revopoint3d.com for technical assistance . Please include information about your system, your scanner and software you are using plus link to this reply in your email.

Just understand one thing , USB connection issues are the system issue and not related to Revo Metro or the scanner.
Sometimes it may take even 1 min for the USB and system to establish the first time connection , sometimes the issues are related to underpowered USB ports and that happen very often , sometimes the ports need to be reinstalled with the drivers .
Using an USB adapter can be an issue since they are not always to correct one to support data and power flow , the best one are only those that support data and fast charging .

The WiFi issue of dropping the connection is also your system issue because your settings for your WiFi dropping the connection , remember that WiFi will not keep connection if there is not Internet available, and because the WiFi connection to your scanner is without Internet it need to be set to keep the connection regardless of Internet or not .
You can do it under WiFi settings, I recommend you do not use " automatic connection " if you want to keep steady your WiFi connection with the scanner because if the system detected that there is no Internet it will switch automatic .

Please include my reply with the email to customer@revopoint3d.com

Since that is all I can help you here with.
The technician at Customer service will take over …
Make sure you include all system info as well.
