This means you can’t scan anything with in RS5 right? Because with 1FPS that would be impossible to scan anything , and the moment it happens you will get Error code 9 showing on your screen .
I believe the stats you see are false .
Anyway new updated are on the way soon , that may fix your issues in RS5
BTW you are the first person that have that issue with POP1 … as I see nobody else with that problem .
You are correct, I cannot produce a successful scan. It actually reports as slow as .2FPS, and shows a maximum of 1.2FPS. The scan window does show the object and the part of the scan that is in the green, but at such a slow FPS nothing usable can be achieved. I do not get the Error code 9. As long as I hold the scanner relatively still and let it run, it continues to capture at the very slow rate. I am content with the previous software, so I am just reporting this for information’s sake. If I am the only one reporting this, perhaps it is just my setup. But hopefully reports like this are helpful.
Thank you for your feedback, I will forward this issue to the dev.team , hopefully I will get some feedback back for you on Monday regarding this issue.
Ver 5.0.2 for Windows. Still total mess with windows sizes and positions. When new project created, main window doesn’t fit display screen vertically. Either toolbar or the status bar are outside the display screen area. Window is not resizable, so I can’t make it fit by any means. Clicking on “maximize” creates oversized window which still can be moved. Trying to move main window to another monitor leads to its disappearing at all and only program restart can restore the main window on the screen. My main monitor is 2560 x 1080, so this may affect window size and position. Please at least make the main window resizable!
Revo Scan version: Beta V5.0.2.214 (as from the “About Revo Scan” window)
System : Windows 10, details follow:
Windows 10 Pro
64 bit (x64)
Lenovo T410 laptop
6Gb RAM
Intel i5 M510 @ 2.4GHz
Graphics are “Intel HD Graphics”
Scanner: Mini
Further notes:
Uninstalled previously installed V5.0.1 beta for windows
Clean installed V5.0.2, using default install settings
Your feedback & suggestion:
I had this issue both on V5.0.1 for windows, and now in V5.0.2 for windows.
On this laptop:
models captures on the Android version and shared to the laptop do not display when opened to view
The main screen is black, no model is rendered
a “New Project” will show the RGB camera, Depth camera, Distance tracking bar, all with accurate info
The main screen is black, no model, nor currently “seen” point cloud info is displayed
Despite this, I can still:
capture a scan (blindly)
edit the model (blindly), fuse / mesh / texture, and export all these to view in another program.
There are no visible errors or dialogs to indicate that there was a problem installing, or during operation.
There are no caveats or warnings during setup and installation stating that either the OS, or computer hardware has incompatibilities or deficiencies that would cause issues.
I am suspecting there is some sort of issue with the graphics hardware and the beta. However, on Revoscan 4.3, the model / pointcloud info does display and track, unlike in the beta. So, I was not expecting a blank screen where the model should show.
If you need further info, please ask, and I’ll gladly help further.
Currently, prior versions of Revoscan work as designed on this laptop (4.1, 4.2, 4.3).
I have Revoscan 5.03 on my Android phone, and it functions WONDERFULLY.
If it had a higher count for the frames captured, it would not slow my workflow when scanning down.
Revoscan 5 on the Android phone is much more usable than Revoscan 4.3 on this laptop.
I will also have access to my wife’s macbook now that she’s concluded her studies just this week.
The OpenGL originally on that laptop is below OpenGL 4.0 , that may explain why you can’t see anything and have issue.
Also it is recommended to have at least 16GB of RAM on your system when using Revo Scan on Windows .
Some of my projects use more than 6GB of RAM while processing , this may cause issue as you don’t have even 6GB disposable for Revo Scan 5 considering your system use part of it , you ending with a very low resources .
RAM nor any of that laptop was an issue using Revoscan 4.1, 4.2, nor 4.3
If there is a hardware limitation that prevents a particular machine from being used, libraries like OpenGL have test/verification routines that allow the dev team to “quick test”, either at runtime each time the program is run, or when the software is installed, to forwarn of hardware issues that would cause problems.
This is the graceful way of coding this solution, and steering the customer/user to a solution.
Blank screens and no errors/warnings will only cause unfavourable interactions between users and customer service.
My Range scanner arrived today.
Impressive bit of kit, looking forward to using it.
The new RevoScan 5 software is looking pretty good too, everything all in one place.
I noticed however that the scanner temperature is in Fahrenheit only with no option to change it to Celsius, can we have an option to change this please?
You can check your OpenGL version to give yourself an answer to your issue , it needs at least OpenGL 4.0 and will not works on lower versions , according to original specifications of your laptop it don’t support it .
It is clear that the issue is your Graphic hardware
Revo Scan 5 is not Revo Scan 4, completely different software , different codes, extensions, resources needed .
Check your OpenGL version and please post the screenshot, it would be very helpful in getting this issue fixed … without wasting of time with guessing .
The OpenGL 4.0 requirement may well be the crux of it here.
My processor/gpu, Intel crudely hard-coded windows versions checks in their drivers, so they do not install the proper OpenGL version on two-digit major versions of windows (e.g. “10” or “11”). They skip past installing anything more recent, because their installer script pretty much assumes that Windows 10 is not Windows at all.
This is firmly a problem in Intel’s camp, not Revopoint’s. Whether or not I can solve it is pretty unlikely, but we know that
A) my issue is unsupported, because it’s a hardware/drivers issue.
B) with thousands of Pop, Pop2, Mini, and Range users, some others are going to have this issue. Not all of them are going to scour the forums for a solution. So I’ll still suggest/petition for some sort of detection on Revopoint’s software side:
In the installer: A routine to check system requirements, and show the user if there is a deficiency
A “check requirements” routine on the Help menu of the software, that users can check, and customer service could ask for, when troubleshooting.
I understand this is lower on the priority list than some of the core scanning or 3d model editing functions. However, such “testing” code in place would cut out guesswork and troubleshooting steps for issues outside of support, for Customer Service, or helpful folks on the forums.
The installer for Beta 5.0.2.214 does not show install window when you have two monitor on Windows 11.
I have to unplug second monitor for the install window to show up.
Overall I am really liking Revoscan 5, but I wish I had the following
Keyboard commands to adjust exposure and depth of field.
I can’t tell you how much better the experience would be if you could do this without having to try and click those tiny buttons whilst trying to maintain hand held track.
If you scan metallic, engineering components and object that have complex curves you need to adjust the gain constantly to get the best results.
Mouse wheel reverse option.
Larger splash screen - Need to see more than 5x projects, fullscreen would be ideal.
i work with 3D scan technology since years,
a big improvement in 3d scanning would be if you are able to activate the possibilities to acquire the marker before scanning, just the marker, then run an optimization and with the marker grid then you can start the scanning process, the result would be much more stable and precise with big objects
this is how it works with expensive scanners such as creaform, scantech etc
it would be a big improvement without changing anything in the hardware !!
As mentioned in the first reply - A possibility to change temperature unit from Fahrenheit to Celcius.
A possibility to rotate the scan to be in a somewhat correct orientation to the axis.
Scaling of the UI - now everything is gigantic on my 4K monitors.
When you have selected some points with a selction tool and pressed delete - the tool is changed to Orbit (mouse pointer) - please let it stay in the last used tool.
Please add mode description to the sliders under mesh construction - what does the quality slider actually means? Could there be a approximate triangle size or similar?
