Inspire vs POP 3

Hey, I’m looking into buying my first 3D scanner as some help in creating projects for 3D printing. The two scanners I found recommended for general/everyday use are POP 3 and Inspire. I saw some older topics on this, but I heard the software got a lot better recently and I’m wondering if with that the Inspire quality can be compared to POP 3 or if maybe it’s still worth spending almost 2x more on to POP 3 to get much better results.

Inspire is a good scanner but it can’t quite get to the detail level of Pop3. I have been a beta tester for both so have hands on time with both.
I really like Inspire actually. It’s cheap and just works.

Hard to say exactly, as this will be my first scanner and I kinda want to just play around a bit and see if it can help with my 3d printing projects. For start I guess I’d mostly be using it for creating some household items/little everyday gadgets, if something breaks I’d scan a part and print new one, things like that. I think the minimum size the Inspire can scan is said to be 5mm3 which I think should be enough for now, but I wonder how the scanned detail in Inspire and POP 3 compare. Also if I ever need to go smaller that 5mm3 is it even possible with the Inspire? It’s a lot cheaper than POP 3 so that’s tempting, but if there is a huge gap in the quality between them maybe it’s worth spending more on the POP 3.

Do you maybe have any scans that can show the difference in detail in both of them?

I don’t think I’ve got any where I’ve scanned the exact same thing with both. Maybe @PUTV has something in her archives?

I did and posted it but kill me I don’t remember where … it was inspire thread btw …

I don’t have my old computer anymore so the tests and comparisons are gone . Search the forum under Inspire you may find it .

Thanks, I did find some example scans from INSPIRE on you profile :smiley: Not sure if they’re the ones you were thinking about, but they do look very good I’d say. The quality of the Inspire seems to be suprisingly good for this price. The POP 3 probably has a bit more detail but I’m not sure anymore if it’s worth spending almost twice as much on it…
