Bought an Inspire 2 scanner. Tried it out some small plastic parts, keeps loosing track of where it is. Sprayed it with scanner spray, placed it on the turntable, placed the scanner on the tripod, everything is in the green, still looses track of the model. Tried for hours to get it to scan the most basic thing and it simply refuses. I only get a large mess of a mesh, not even resembling a model. Then I gave up and tried the laser parallel line thing on another part and marked the surface with 20 of those stickers asymmetrically (30x20cm curved surface basically). Turns out that doesn’t work either, I get like 0,3fps and the software just freeze. Looked it up and it doesn’t support amd gpus for some reason. Why? Got a 5800X cpu/32gb ram and it can’t deal with the scan in software mode without freezing. Faulty unit or do I have some weird expectations that it nothing but a glorified toy?

I use recommended system with very fast speed on both Full Field and Laser mode .
It is actually very good and more than the price would suggest.
Check with the CS they will check out your unit .
Nvidia gpu is needed for laser mode. Reason you have a low fps. Your system does not meet the minimum required specs.
Full field feature tracking mode. Sounds like yout item has no features to track. Use marker mode with markers placed around and/or the item. You could also place small balled up pieces of paper to add more features to track.
Scan a simple item is not simple as there is no define features to track.
A friend for a 2070 for sale. Will that work? Says 3060 but the cards should be almost the same in terms of speed. Watched some video on youtube, but his unit tracks instantly and gets something that resembles the model in seconds. I never even got it to scan more than incoherent spots all over the place. It looses track of the model even on the slowest speed on the turntable with the unit on the tripod. If you move it the slightest it stops working completely.
30s,40s or 50s gpu should be used.
For tracking i would have to see your scan and the item. If you do not set things up correctly to ne scanned it will not work correctly
Hi @Hanatsu don’t get the lowest card from what is minimum recommended what is 3050 , it may works but it is still below the recommendation . So if you going to use laser mode it will be not even optimal in speed because 3050 is not the recommended choice, it is minimum and 20- series are not recommended , 4060 is , for full performance.
