Just a joke! Seriously, how did you become a master of 3D scanning?
Still being far off from being a master in 3d scanning, but I learnt by far the most from “listening” to Catharina (PUTV). IMHO there is no better way than learning from an experienced Pro like she is.
PUTV might be the only one here considered “a Master of 3d Scanning”. Profound interest in tech combined with countless hours of practice and use leads to knowledge and skills.
I totally agree.
Thank you for the kind words @ivan and @Revopoint-Fay
I see couple more masters in our community that know well what they are doing .
That would be among others @Rilot , @Scan2Model , @X3msnake , @Xile6 , @dfodaro , @Johnathan and others
They are masters in their own genre of scanning .
All you need to have some passion and plenty of time to practice , know well your object before you scan it and know well the rules of scanning . Each of object needs personal attention and evaluation .
Knowing the principles of 3D modeling in general to better understand what is really happening . In short learn your tools well .
Everyone can become a master in own genre , if you put your mind into it .
I don’t know everything and we all still learning everyday from each other . That why community is for .
I’m no master, I see alot of scanning related things I have yet to learn and experience, BUT so far how I got to the point where I am with my knowledge, is through desperation, the need to solve difficult engineering problems, using shitty tools in my early days, lots of experimenting, coming up with new ideas to solve difficult situations, having to try overcome the limitations of my own knowledge and the tools I used.
Nowadays 3D scanners became much more accessible and better at their thing, so I feel like newcomers are spoiled with the current toys. They just work. (in general)
One of my earliest scans:
And one that is quite recent:
We have come quite the way.
Experiences makes you a master in your genre … Simple as that , and the path can’t be reached by just reading some books or watch YT video … Practice makes it perfect.
When I started , there was no Google or YT ,and the access to internet for the public was just grandet … So yes today’s folk get spoiled and become lazy to learn …
Don’t be too modest; you’re also a great scanning master. All our Beta users are scanning masters—except for me. I still need a lot of guidance from everyone.
I would never describe myself as a master at all. I just apply the usual methodology: Try, fail, learn, repeat. I’d put myself somewhere on the slope of enlightenment of the Dunning-Kreuger curve, just past the valley of despair.
It’s all about practice and learning from others. Experiment, find out what works and what doesn’t, and never get frustrated. If stuff isn’t working, put the tools away, take a coffee, watch some TV and come back to it later.
Don’t be so modest Master Andy … you earned it …
