GPU support question

I’d like to add that the older 1660Ti works perfectly with MetroY, as well as technically “Poor” i5-13600KF. On just CPU I got 45fps, with GPU over 60 in cross mode.

Hi @Franc yes I understand and you are correct , sadly Revo Metro use the graphic card features that Quadro cards was not design to do well including it’s driver, it just need a fast gaming card , and a simple $300 card my doing the job faster than your expensive quadro card .

Also the after scanning processing is all done via CPU exclusive . GPU acceleration is only used in real time while scanning using laser modes only.

Hi @bananu7 that are very good speed levels here almost at max. MetroY Pro need a very slightly more horse power.

With MetroY Pro

The CPU can go max 47-48 fps with i9 14th Gen and 47 fps with i9 10th Gen

The GPU acceleration can go maximum 68.2 fps with RTX 4060 Mobile GC

With my RTX 3090ti Desktop GC it never reached above 60 fps

Well…. than again, that could be a good thing…. My 12y and me can finally tell my wife that we need a gaming computer…..

That’s a good one

How you think I got my new gaming laptop

I use my desktop only for my work what is optimal for my needs what is 3D organic modeling , 3D texturing , rendering and design and I need my Nvidia Studio Driver to run my software , but no more great ( optimal) for scanning with the new scanners in laser mode.

Hi Franc, I literally have the same ZBook as you, which I have just set up with a cheap eGPU on the Thunderbolt port to be my scanning rig with TrackIt. I will let you know how it goes. I have Siemens NX installed on it, and I can tell you a 5060 destroys my old Quadro

I am considering Hacking in a OCuLink connector into one of the M.2 connections to reduce bottle necking

Great. Any link on purchased egpu perhaps? Thanks. And please send feedback how does work egpu on Zbook. Br

I just used an eGPU holder from Maskedfish eGPU Enclosure Thunderbolt 3/4 USB4 40Gbps PD 85W Charging External GPU Dock Compatible with NVIDIA/AMD Graphics Cards on Win 10/11 Linux System, ATX Power Supply (MK-L18) : Amazon.com.au: Computers. Be careful which one you get, some will only support up to an RTX4090, and this card PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Dual Fan OC 16G Graphics Card (VCG5060T16DFXPB1-O) - Umart.com.au. But these sites are Australian, you will have to find ones close to you, and you will need to get a power supply. I am backing this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/egryphon/egryphon-unlock-desktop-class-gaming-and-ai-power-anywhere?ref=user_menu, and when I get it, I will give my current setup to my son.

There is a bit of a bottleneck, but large CAD assemblies are a breeze, and I have also been using it for some CFD and as a test and wow. I had put this workstation in the cupboard because I have a newer one, but this is making me rethink some things

I am in the process of trying to fit a OCuLink connector from one of the m.2 drives and have a connector on the edge of the workstation so i have ordered a OCuLink eGPU dock looking at specs i saw a figure of 64Gbps weather i get that? I don’t know but it should go a long way to reducing the bottleneck and work well with the egryphon and i forgot to mention i have the Xeon processor on my Zbook

I purchased this one in April

I have a question regarding the GPU requirements for the Revopoint Inspire 2 (revometro software for inspire 2). Will the following GPU work correctly, or do I need at least an RTX 4060 (8 GB)?:

• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 – 6 GB GDDR6???

Or is the minimum recommended GPU an RTX 4060 – 8 GB?

Extremely disappointing that something called the MetroY PRO - a which is an abbreviation for the word professional doesn’t support professional level graphics cards. My main CAD system has an RTX Quadro card and is not compatible.

Might be sending mine back within the return window and buying a scanner from your competitors, which support Quadro cards. Simply ridiculous to call something “Pro” that is incompatible with Professional CAD hardware…

Hi @jacksonxxl

You can use 3050 or any other above that …

Hi @tjones018

You can use whatever you want for the viewport , but for live scanning the software requires something what Quarto card don’t offer and there is nothing you can do about it. The quadro drivers just don’t support this function optimally as it was not made to support that function.

Next time read the product description before you purchasing something in place of hoping that it will works just because you saw “Pro” sign :joy:

And what has “PRO” to do with anything here ? I don’t sense any professionalism from you and your post either .

Just please contact customer@revopoint3d.com for your refund and return.

BYE !

Hi Revo People,

I’ve recently purchased a Metro Y Pro kit and I’m happy with the device and getting used too scanning (I’m a scanning newbie).

My PC is a AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and I’m currently using AMD Radeon Pro WX7100 GPU (a hand me down from last workstation - still works pretty well for CAD - but doesnt work with Revo Metro GPU processing) while choosing a new suitable GPU for CAD as well as scanning.

I would prefer an AMD Radeon Pro GPU but that doesn’t look like its on the cards??

Any thoughts or experences would be welcome…

Hi @Fastrite

This has nothing to do with CAD or anything related.

Only CUDA cards are supported at this moment and specifically RTX 20-50 series ( officially 30-5O series only ) with the latest gaming driver.

The cards are not used for the Viewport , as for the viewport you can use anything you like as long it support OpenGl 4+

The cards are required for a live scanning using laser scanners only , they are not used for processing either, only to collect laser frames, for that reason specific card with cuda cores and specific driver is required for full speed of the laser and not related to CAD or processing or 3D modeling .

My computer is a 12th gen i9 w/ 64GB of ram and has a Quadro RTX A4500.

I have not tried the wireless mode with my ‘Y Pro yet. Are you saying it won’t work wirelessly?

Wired, I get nearly 60fps and some very nice scans.

Hi Robin

And 60 fps in laser mode ? I wonder how , but great if you do !

Full Field and Auto mode don’t require any GPU acceleration.

I have never had much luck with auto or full field modes…at least w/ the ‘X. Haven’t really tried them on the ‘Y Pro.

Are you saying I should not have support for the A4500 in laser mode? and that the fact that I do is an anomaly?
