Well that's disappointing, nVidia Quadro cards are not supported :(

The latest MetroX w/ GPU support dropped and there isn’t support for a nVidia Quadro A4500 card. This is workstation class GPU and should not only be supported, but when I asked in pre-sales if it would be they confirmed that yes, the Quadro cards would be supported.

So disappointed, waited so long for nothing.

Is there any hope for the future or is this just not going to be supported and only gaming cards will get support?

Same here, disappointed. I have the A5000, which like yours, is a commercial card

The minimum requirements page stated RTX 30 series on Kickstarter and on product page.

Yet your cards still working with Revo Scan MetroX just not with the new feature that requires RTX

Yes disappointing but you all know minimum requirements before purchase.

@ Robin , nobody told you GPU acceleration feature will work with your card because everyone knew it needs RTX as minimum requirements, it was answer to Revo Scan MetroX that still works with your card.

Why you think I spend $1300 on my RTX card last year if I had 12000 cuda cores on my workstation ?

is unfair to blame it on Revopoint at this point.

That is simply not true. On kickstarter, I specifically asked before I got onboard if the Quadro a4500 would be GPU supported and was told “yes”.

As to why you’d spend $1300 on a gaming card, I can’t answer that question.

Professionals use Quadros, not game cards.

Nobody could answer you that question regarding GPU specifically for acceleration because that came later .

GPU usage with Revo Scan MetroX and GPU acceleration for laser mode are 2 different things , you can still use it with integrated HD Intel graphics what don’t means it support GPU acceleration.

I use it with Studio driver as that is made for professionals with 24GB of V Rams the best you can do.
All my professional programs requires it

Quadros cards are overrated waste of money.

Everyone switched to RTX in my field of work what is 3D design , rendering and content creation in real time.

GPU acceleration will not work with any card that is lower than RTX 3050
They set up it this way as minimum requirement .

P.S I use RTX 3090 ti suprim 24GB with Studio driver, not exactly gaming card , still faster than RTX 4060

Robin I will have conversation about it on Monday so we see if they allows GPU acceleration with Quadro cards

What is your exact model ?

I have an NVIDIA RTX A5000, which is part of the RTX series.

The RTX 30 series was released in September 2020, and the A5000 followed in April 2021, so it should be supported.

The A5000 was specifically purchased for my field of work, which involves processing and registering point cloud data from Faro S series scanners.

I have the Nvidia RTX A3000, which should also fall under that same boat

How about a rtx 2060 super. Can we get some support there too? It isn’t the fastest card but it seemingly would improve things and both my computers have them. If not then no big deal. Sorry to throw a hijack in the thread.

EDIT: I am getting about 80% cpu and 30% gpu while scanning at 45-46fps in cross laser mode. I don’t remember what I was getting before the update or if the gpu showed up at all but the fps is about the same as it was.

Can’t even buy a workstation class laptop w/o a Quadro in it. Dell, HP, and others all use Quadros in their high end machines.

Most all the companies that sell desktop CAD stations do exactly the same.

A Quadro will run circles around a comparable level geforce on pretty much any benchmark and in the real world too.

Reverse engineering software that takes advantage of GPU needs a Quadro as well.

Just silly not to take advantage of this horsepower when the MetroX is targeting the workstation and professional market

I fully understand , but it looks like they do not take the advantage of the cuda cores at all .

It was probably manually blocked without proper testing , it makes no sense to me after running couple of tests with different cards.

I will have conversation on Monday and suggest they add them back to the list.

That should be definitely not an issue at all … thanks for the info

Did you changed the setting to GPU acceleration and use the last driver from Nvidia ?

The frame rate should be 57-60 FPS
If you run the software with GPU acceleration

Cards below 3050 are not accepted so it may not works for you.

It is probably blocked on the access manually …

Wait until Monday maybe we get it running

On Monday we should have answer for you so keep tight !

With the gpu option on is same as with off. 45-46fps with ryzen 7 cpu at 80% and 2060 super gpu at 30%. I wonder what the gpu is doing during this then. Like I said before I don’t recall if the previous version used any or not. I have not updated my other computer yet so maybe if I get time in the near future I will see if the 5.6.2 version used the gpu at all and I will report back at that time. It would be nice if the software could use the 2060 super but perhaps it wouldn’t give any more fps than the cpu anyway. I am sure the team is planning on expanding the capabilities of the software in time as they have been hard at it all along. A monumental task for a small team for sure.

the option in settings is greyed out.

They had to write all codes from scratch and that was not easy task to accomplish , they setup the card access manually off to avoid people having issues

My CPU is only running at 12% while using laser mode meaning the GPU took over it and scanning is double faster collection 8000 frames than before , that was all the reason for use GPU acceleration to speed up the collections of frames .

It will improve with the time and other cards will be added in next version
Just had a call with my team leader and will discuss it on Monday when everyone is back in the office .

So sit tight until then

I’ll echo those with Quadro cards. I have a RTX3500 ADA in my laptop. I’ve not installed the new software yet but this level of card has to be supported else the Metrox is a dead duck for many. I hope the developers add this support. Professionals use Quadro, gamers use GeForce
