Furious at sea / scanner not connecting

We met some friends for a cruise, and specifically set aside some time to scan something they brought along. But when I connected the POP 4 scanner to my MacBook it never showed as connected. The LED on the scanner went from red to green, but the software never said it was connected. After a half-hour of frustration and trying things, we gave up.

When I got home, I connected it, and it connected and had a firmware update, which I installed. Everything worked.

Why didn’t it work on the cruise? Does the software or scanner require an internet connection to work? If so, this should be made clear, to avoid massive frustration.

Hi @Dithermaster

The scanner don’t need Internet access to connect to the software , I suspect you may rotated the plug , there are some cases where it need to be done but not in all cases as personally it always works for me regardless.

In the future if you have any software related issues just write email to customer@revopoint3d.com the 24/7 support will help you out .

The USB C plug, computer end? I believe I did try that, and tried both USB C ports on my MacBook.

Good to hear that Internet access is not required.

Yes the USB C plug !
