Experiencing Laptop Lag

Hello Peeps!
I’ve got an Asus M16 - Intel i9 13900H, RTX4070, 32GB ddr5 - well in spec for the Inspire 2. (Also I run everything on Turbo mode in armory crate and the laptop is obviously plugged in - all windows power plan options are maxed out for performance too)

I use Revo Metro for my scans, I’ve recently faced an issue where the laptop randomly just starts lagging bad, like a good 2-5second sometimes more latency issue from input to an action being performed. I check the task manager and everything seems to be working perfect, RAM is well under 50%, the cpu is max at 15% thats when rendering and GPU only when the scanner is working. I close the program and have nothing running in the background in the hopes that it will come back but it just seems to stay the same until I restart the laptop. This is weird as I’ve used the laptop for heavy gaming at 2k and never experienced this issue.

My resolution is at 2560x1600 recommended by windows with the scale at 150% again recommended.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? If so, can you please help me out?

Thanks

Hi @cadman666

Try to close the Revo Metro via the Task Manager , it is normally impossible for the CPU to process anything if nothing is running unless your system processing something in the background , downloading updates or synchronize other things .

You can clearly see it in your Task Manager .
There are no hidden background processing when Revo Metro us closed . Not on my laptop.

I have, still got the same issue going. Is there another underlying issue you think at hand?

I don’t think because nothing is running after I close it. The CPU automatic go down the moment I switch to Home tab in Revo Metro.

Just an idea , do you use Inspire with USB cable or WiFi , if via WiFi there may be some processing going on , just guessing as I personally never experienced it , sometimes I leave Revo Metro on Home page and my laptop just go in sleep mode .

I am running my Inspire on an Android tablet (Teclast P30). It worked well for more than a year, but now the exposure windows lag 30sec or more. I.e. if I put my hand in front of the scanner it appears on the main window immediately but won’t appear on the exposure windows for 30s or more. At the same time the tablet RAM is filling until it hangs after 2-3 minutes, before even starting a scan. The tablet has 4GB physical RAM plus 6GB virtual RAM. The scanner works on my PC and on 2 separate phones with no time delay or filling RAM. The phones have 4GB RAM although one has only 1GB free. The problem is the same whether using wifi or the cable, but the tablet has only a USB 2.0 port. I haven’t tried wifi on the phones. Revopoint have been helpful but say they haven’t seen this before and I am at a loss, particularly because it worked well on the tablet for a year. I will post a new thread about my problem.

No via cable. No wifi enabled… I’ve checked everything possible, could it be an issue with the software? I’m using Revo Metro 5.8.6 - I believe thats the latest one too

Yes that is the latest version .
Since I can’t recreate or confirm that issue , I recommend you to contact customer@revopoint3d.com for technical assistance but please do it on Wednesday when the technician are back at the office from long weekend holidays.

They may have better ideas what is happening.
But I run it on both my PC, PC tablet and a laptop and can’t recreate that , and you are first experience it so it may be anything .

The software usually stop using the CPU once you move to the Home tap, it drops instantly .
There is no way it could process anything while it is closed .

The only last idea I have here is the scanner connected to the USB , after closing the software try to unplug it and see if the CPU drops , just guessing but worth checking .

Please include the link to this thread with your email for references so you don’t have to retype everything again .

Let me know if you get the results from the technicians.

Hi @MarkEvans

Please start your own thread always with your issues as it is not related to the scanner or issue here .
If you already contacted the Customer Support there is not much I can help you with anyway. 4GB tablet is rather not advised to be used with any scanners as the minimal requirement is 6GB and UP even for Android phones. Anyway please continue via the CS . I believe the software got too advanced and what you experience is a lag of your android system.

Thanks, will do :folded_hands::folded_hands:
