Bunch of questions

Greetings!

I keep familiarizing myself with my MetroY Pro, watching some more in-depth YouTube Guides, getting annoyed by some stuff like Revo Metro 5.8.0.134 being SUPER Crash Prone when doing a Wireless Feature Scan with a Multi Axis Turntable Mode enabled, etc…

Anyway… Bunch of Questions that have so far come up:

  • What Mode is generally considered to give the highest detail capture? Marker or Feature?
  • As mentioned, Revo Metro seems to be REALLY Crash Prone when doing a Wireless Feature Scan with Turntable Mode enabled ( in particular when doing many angles ). Is there a workaround for this? I’m kinda REALLY digging not having to setup all the wiring to start a Job but the reliable Crashes with that Combo kinda mandates going wired :expressionless_face:
  • If a Model needs to be Merged - At what point in the Editing Process should one do it?
From the looks of it after the Point Cloud Edit but before the Mesh Edit seems to be sensible, no? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
  • Can the Revo Metro App Camera behaviour changed to a more User-Friendly “Locked Horizon” Mode? The Mode currently “Free Orbit” is fine with a 6-DoF Controller like a 3DConnexion Spacepilot but man is it a driving me up the walls on my most performing PC without a Spacepilot :sob:
  • In a similar vein… Is there an option to invert the Scroll Wheel Zoom Direction?
  • So far, I’ve aligned / oriented the Meshes in Autodesk Fusion 360 using Direct Editing, creating a bunch of 3-Point Construction Planes, and then using those to align the Model to the Scene Origin Planes - Is there an option to do the same already in Revo Metro to align the Model to the XYZ Orientation Cube in the top right of the Scene Corner?

Maker mode is alwaying going to be the most accurate mode.

You fuse > clean point clound > then merge.

You can not merge meshed scans.

This bug has been found already and under fixation as we speak . It is the turntable doing it .

If you experience shutting down on WiFi only while scanning make sure you disable automatic Internet connection when no network is available on your computer because it is the computer doing it , the same when using mirror app .

Marker mode is always more accurate than Feature mode , but Auto mode is the most detailed when it get about the details and accuracy because the scanner is steady on a tripod without any shaking and the Auto mode use single shot mode for low level deviations and errors .

As mentioned early , it is a bug that need to be fixed and already reported , it does not happen always but when it do it do .. I used lots of Auto mode lately and there are days it works perfectly and days where it refuse to work at all . I believe the Bluetooth connectivity has issue with the software at this moment.

Scans need to be merged after they are fused and cleaned from overlapped and lose points , the scans can’t contains any other parts than the object itself for a successful merge . For that reason they need to be cleaned and trimmed if nesesery using available tools in the software .

Currently the viewport camera has only 2 views that can be changed under Display in the main menu if the software .
The behavior can’t be changed

No there is no way and currently it was changed and reversed so this also something I would like to see a feature as it do not compute with my brain or other software I use

No there is not an option to change the origin of the object in the viewport since all the project data is linked to the main origin frame of origin of the scan that including color data if captured. All frames are aligned to the one and only point of origin for the scanning software.

So for now the scans can’t change it’s original positions in space . But who knows what future brings us !
