Does the software let us orient our scans in space yet? so we can set a ground plane and what would be the front, back, etc?
Thank you for your suggestion Matt! I will forward this to dev team and hopefully they’ll add it to the future.
I second this, would avoid using a second soft for this before importing in CAD
This feature would be kind of essential! Please add this soon, that would be highly appreciated.
I would have thought this feature would have been the first thing Revopoint would have added to the software. With the base plane being completely random it makes fixing or importing the mesh models a lot harder.
The base plane is actually not random , it is based on the origin position of the first frame the scanner started to scan the object .
It is impossible the change the raw project files as you can’t change position of already taken pictures , only fused or meshed or already textured objects can be changed as they are editable.
So the option to change the original position should be available before export as it will not effect anything else in the original project .
Any news about this huge future request?
I am a new owner of an Inspire 2 and I have been playing around with it for the last three weeks. Since I import most of my models into Onshape, which is pretty bad in aligning mashes and imported objects, I am really struggling to find a good, easy and cheap workflow to aline the scans from RevoMetro. I would absolutely love to see a feature to align to world coordinates and to set planes. I know you have higher end software, which is very expensive for an hobbyist. But please please please give us a feature like this in RevoMetro. Thank you very much!
Hi @Niko_Scan
Download free Cloud Compare software , you can do whatever you want with the origin of your 3D models.
Not every software have the same coordinates, it is not guaranteed it will be in the right position , it will depends of the software import setting anyway.
3D editing software usually have iits own Unique pivot .
I work with many 3D editing software and each of them use different position in space and pivot .
For that reason it is not universal solution for everyone.
The best option for that is creating an export bridge plugin for specific software … !
Thank you for the valuable information. The information helps me to download Cloud Compare software easily.
No problem , it is little powerful software with a lot of great features.
If you get lost check some videos on YT .
You can clean your scans, merge and mesh it as well to a level not available in Revo software.
