Advice: Pop3 or inspire to go with mini

Hello everyone,

With deals around the corner, i’m looking for an addition to the revopoint mini and to replace ancient 3dsense v1.
Looking for something for mid range scans, car parts, ocasional people/head scan. I don’t need color scans.
Range is a bit too much in my opinion (scanning distance, size of the scanner).
Is there somewhere same object scanned with both for comparing?
Price is in favour of inspire. Size and weight too as i might use stabilizer with it. Keep in mind that i do have mini for detailed small parts if needed in bigger scans.

Give me your advice.

Thank you.

Hi! depending the level of detail you need and size of Objects (car parts can get big) I wouldn’t ditch Range . It has considerable bigger FOV and therefore better tracking IMO when scanning bigger parts and needs much less markers , if you need them on an object. it gives still nice details objects like faces, more than needed if you print them on an 3d printer.Range and Mini are my daily drivers for most stuff. I prefere Range over POP2 as I don’t have to come as near to people faces for same results. Range is a bit wider, but still very narrow device.

Othrerwise I would go with pop3 over Inspire, as Inspire still is an entry 3d scanner device and Pop3 specswise is classes above it.

here is a discussion about pop3 vs Inspire. If affordable I surely woulf go with pop3 anytime.

Thank you for your input.

It’s for reverse engineering and i don’t do it regulary.
Small form factor is also a big key here if you want to scan something in the engine bay under a hose or some part.
Range is too wide for that and it’s great for large panels.
I don’t need to scan half a car in one go or complete body panels.
I usually use it for a specific part to use it as a digital reference.
I’ve managed to scan 40x40cm part of black dashboard with almost no details without spray with mini. It may take time but the result is flawless and dimensions are spot on.
Made a part that fits like a glove.
Inspire being ~320€ and pop3 and range being ≥520€ is quite a difference for something i’ll use every couple of months or so.

Thank you.

I´ve seen quite a few posts with scans done with Inspire and it seems that 0.2mm is more than enough for your use. great piece of tech for $366.00 (Sell going on now for last few days).

Went for inspire.
Got it delivered.
Didn’t get the chance to take it out of the box.
I think it might be nice combo mini & inspire.
