New to the forum, I haven’t used my MetroX nearly as much as I wanted. I noticed when making an ultra high quality scan of a museum piece, I only saw CPU acceleration. Will there be a native Apple GPU acceleration in the software in the future? I run an M3 Pro with the extra’s so the muscle power is there…
If not, any recommendations for settings to make it a more enjoyable experience during ultra detailed scans?
Nice to see another museum/heritage person here. I’m in the same boat. I’ve written to Revopoint and asked them to consider Apple Silicon native software sooner rather than later for many reasons, especially the one you have raised.
I just scrolled a little further and read some more that need this, thank you. Revopoint notes that is’t ‘‘only’’ 10-20% of their users.. Losing 10-20% of customers/revenue is quite a lot if you look at it like that. I do hope this get it’s native Apple version. I do love the results I get so far.
Performance should be great. My INSPIRE 2 in laser line mode runs at 16fps when inside VMWare Fusion on an i9 Intel iMac running macOS 26 (albeit understandably a little unstable). The Mac version of Revo Metro should fly on this nearly-antique Mac. Running the Revo Scan 5 MetroX app’s performance check on my iMac gives a score of “Good”, which is promising.
If they get an Apple Silicon version with GPU support it should seriously fly on an M-Series Mac.
Currently there is no news about this so can’t help you out . I did asked but not definitely reply when .
You guys are not the first , there is more users asking for changes in this direction .
Hopefully enough users will push to make changes .
Nobody exactly knows how many users switched already and so far I see only couple of users mentioning it , comparing to 30K of users it is not enough , so keep pushing !
According to statistics there is probably 1-2 users using Mac on 10 total users . But how many of them switched already or can’t use it because of that is unknown.
I love that people go well, I’m so important, I’m doing this if they don’t do what I want! I’ve got an idea, why don’t you hold your breath! I’ll wait! This is a forum; you are not talking to the director of Revo Point
But seriously decision like that need to be made by the head of the company , it will involve enormous costs and maintenance and if they are not ready , nothing I say will change their decision in this direction as I reported it countless times already.
Note to everyone :
Customer has a biggest power in this case and impact , so speak up your mind under Feedback/Suggestions in a civilized conversations and facts rather than mental blackmail because this don’t works and you may be just ignored as a troll.
I emailed customer@revopoint3d.com and expressed my support for better Mac support. I asked them to pass it directly to the software developers because of my concern about macOS 26 being the last to support x86 native software.
I’m optimistic that it will come, as RevoScan on iOS is a native Apple Silicon app, and contains the basics (Fusion, Isolation, Overlap, Meshing) which are obviously constrained by the limited RAM of the iPhone and iPad.
I feel like if it’s worth it for Revopoint to develop for Apple users then it should be even more worth their time to optimize for AMD GPUs/CPUs as that’s an even bigger market than Apple users. I vote they optimize for both AMD and Apple users.
definitely , how more platform and systems are supported how more happy customers .
I am thinking to create a little petition where everyone can vote up for their needs , that could show off how many active users are truly interested but need to use alternatives instead .
