So… before I blow up my computer and/or scanner, can I assume the “dedicated cable” is the cable that came with the scanner?

Dedicated cable provides guaranteed, consistent performance. Please check the reply below with link.

Thanks. I am interpreting “standalone scanner mode” as the scanner operating without being connected to the tracker, is that correct?

Would this cable simply be the black cable the scanner already uses?

Or is there a different cable to buy?

I ask because the standard included scanner cable would not provide the scanner with 12volts. I assume there is a new cable similar to the one from the Metro line that would have a powet line.

Can you confrim?

To run Trackit as a standalone scanner without the need of the Tracker , you need to use this cable together with the Trackit AC power adapter.

If you don’t own it , you can purchase it here

BTW I know you going to ask if you can use the cable from MetroY series , well the answer is NO you should not

  1. The transmission rate of the new dedicated cable is much faster to match the proper speed of Tracking scanner while scanning as standalone

  2. There is no a pin in the older cable that can be attached to the scanner . The end of the Metro series power/data cable has a different end that would need to be broken off to make it work.

So not really recommend

the black cable that came with my trackit does not work, so I assume it is not the same cable as the one they are selling. this is a function that should have been included at launch, and having to buy an extra cable doesnt really seem fair.

Hi @Jonna

I already explained in my above post and there is nothing else to guess about . Please buy the dedicated cable as described.

I understand that it my be a bitter-sweet situation but the standalone feature was not planned , it was added after lots of users asked for it and special cable was produced for that reason.

Hi PUTV, only reason I assumed it could be the black cable that came with the scanner was this post and your reply and your confirmation..

Thanks anyway.

After that I realized there’s no place to inject power without the Tracker hub, and all the weird right-angle connectors make reusing the cables impossible even if they would work without power.

I ordered the cable. :person_shrugging:

My bad , I refered to the dedicate cable rather to the black cable that can’t support the power for obvious reason , your computer can’t power Trackit, it needs 12V not 5V it would burn up your USB port probably even if somehow you made it to work.

I should be more clear in my first reply , however I explained exactly later but I see everyone pretending it is not there.

No worries, thanks anyway, I am eager to see what results we can get from Standalone scanning with no tracker..

@PUTV so is a stand alone trackit scanner closer to a MetroX or MetroY in terms of scanning?

Hi @1bigpig

Trackit Marker scanning results are the same as MetroY series ( laser mode )

You get the same result as you scanning with Trackit in Marker mode , maybe slight faster , there is not markerless scanning obviously .

Users wanted to use Trackit in marker mode without the need to attach everything to the Tracker , now they can use it and leave the Tracker in the case, that is all.
