Does anyone know which 3D scanner I should buy to scan a sailing yacht's sprayhood (approximately 3000mm x 3000mm) The problem is the boat is in the water and moving a little.
So scanning won't work with the Trackit I ordered.
Which 3D scanner would be able to do this?
I look forward to your responses.
For this job the best would be Revopoint new scanner “ Trackit “ however it is not recommended to scan it outdoors in a sunlight. So it works best one hour before or after sunset or at night/evening .
However moving objects are not usual candidates to be 3D scanned , unless you are in the boat and move with it
Please note that our community really only to Revopoint scanners.
I’m not sure, and maybe @PUTV can tell us, but as long as there are no accelerometers in the trackit’s tracker, then it should work if the tracker is mounted to the yacht well, still on a tripod, but just sturdy so that it moves with the yachat and of a night time as at sunset, stray reflections off the water will stuff things up. Are you trying to make a dodger or just modifying the spray hood? The other option is that it could be done with photogrammetry, but depending on the materials, it would be a pain in the butt. unless you are going on the hard, i don’t think any scanner is going to work if it makes yous of a accelerometer and gyro input for tracking purposes, i honestly think trackit is your best bet
Good, this is what I was hoping, it’s exactly like a surveying set-up every everything else can be moved around, except you backsight/ base station. @sjaak Yes, track it is the way to go, mate. If you ever find yourself sailing across the Pacific to Australia, you will probably find yourself calling into Bundaberg Port at Bernet Heads! If so, send me a message, and I’ll come out for a beer
