Hi im really keen to purchase one for my business. So I do upholstery for boats ie clear covers binimi covers windows covers seats for cars too. I also do Shade Sails. The distance varies but not much more than say 8m span between posts. But tolerance can be ±10mm
.But boat components have to be spot on. What scanner do you recommend
What are you hoping to scan? Whole boat deck? Whole boats? Just position of posts? Seats? What are you hoping to get out of your scan data? More accurate areas to figure out fabric usage or generate patterns? I feel a lot of people buy scanners thinking they are the end solution, but they are just a tool in the process. They are not a magic button.
8m is a pretty big span. As I’m sure you’re aware, as your volumetric scanning adds up, so does your error. Range or Miraco are the best right now (new tracking scanner would be good, but not out yet). The Far Mode on the Miraco is going to be good for something car/truck sized. There has been talk on here about scanning boat floors, but I’ve not seen anyone results from trying that.
Hi Tony , as Nick said Range 2 or MIRACO would be best , but 8 m span is a lot , you will need to make small section and no more than 2 m each to preserve the accuracy.
Upcoming Trackit 3D scanner would be the best choice without to worry about markers but it istill not released so it takes a little time.
Remember the scanners require environment lighting control , so not an outdoor scanning on a sunny day
