What's the correct way to turn off Metrox?

Hi,

I’m still getting familiar with my newly arrived MetroX and found that as long as power cable plugged in, the fan on MertoX keeping running. So I’m not sure whether I should wait for the fan to stop then unplug the cable form MetroX. I haven’t found any related answer on manual so now I just unplug the cable after finishing my scan.

Will I damage the machine if I do this?

Hello, we are currently consulting with our development team and will get back to you later.

Hi @modoneer

Just unplug the cable from MetroX after closing the Revo Scan first . Never before closing the software.
Then after that the AC adapter from the outlet and that is .

@PUTV Thanks!

To make it more easy to follow:

MetroX turn off procedure:

  1. Close Revo Scan software.
  2. Unplug cable from MetroX.
  3. Unplug AC adaptor.

Yes, @PUTV’s steps are correct. You can also follow the sequence recommended by the dev team:

  1. Unplug the USB cable from the computer.
  2. Power off the scanner.
  3. Unplug the scanner’s cable.

By following this order, it is possible to minimize signal interference caused by interface shaking during the process of plugging and unplugging the data cable, thereby reducing the likelihood of issues affecting the computer’s USB port.

This would highly surprise me. USB is by design hot-pluggable. If the device breaks due to wrong connection or disconnection order, that would be a warranty case. Pretty sure Revopoint knows this and designed the scanner accordingly.

The point is that if you disconnect the actual AC power before disconnecting connecting the Software the computer USB will try to reconnect and because there is not enough power in s USB port it may side issues to USB port

Best way

  1. Close the software
  2. Unplug the USB cable from the computer.
  3. Unplug the scanner’s AC cable from the outlet.

On that I agree with you. It might confuse the software and/or the OS and/or the firmware, leaving you at worst in the situation where you have to reboot the system. Should not happen, if well designed, but might be the case.

But honestly haven’t really cared about what order I plugged and unplugged, and the scanner could always connect nicely.

Try to connect with USB only ( no power outlet ) you will see how the system get confused .

I tried it. And it works like a charm. Revopoint engineers did their job well in that regard. Plug USB in, but no power → of course, the SW complains about disconnected scanner. Plug in the power cable and hit the “X” so it tries again → Connected. Unplug the power → immediately disconnected. Re-plug the power, hit “X” to try again → Connected.

This is a USB device. Just plug it in when you use it and plug it out when you stop using it

Yes but users don’t want it because it weakening the port over time .
For that reason I use USB hub with a switch
