Whilst scanning I get poor results with the scans looking like this:
Any idea what is causing this? It was a marker scan, full field I think.

Your title says after 3 hours. Are you meaning that you have spent 3 hours attempting to scan a part and this is the result? Or that you are scanning multiple objects and after 3 hours you are suddenly having abnormal results from the scanner?
It looks like your raw point cloud preview settings are set extremely high. You have not given very much information here. How big is this part? What settings are you using? Which software version are you using? How does your model look when you fuse it? Sometimes the raw preview just looks weird. Sometimes the software can be buggy and just restarting it fixes issues. Please provide some more details to allow others to better help you.
As Nick already asked the most questions..
Make sure you are using Revo Metro with your MetroX scanner and fuse the scan after scanning so you have an organized point cloud in place of raw unorganized file , share the fused model screenshot of the whole software and the settings you used.
Sorry I was not clear. I had been successfully scanning other similar objects for about 3 hours and using the same settings the scans were getting no better than this. Could it be because something else was slowing down the USB ?
Hi @mnew
You suppose to share a scan after fusing , if you want a help solve your issue .
Please collaborate as requested.
I can’t upload ,ply or stl here it seems ![]()
Screenshot of the software please , full screen is enough after scanning and after fusing
Raw
Fused
How big is this part? It looks kinda like a tooth? If the object is only 1/2” big then you will not have many points if fused at 0.5mm.
Change the fusing points to smaller not less than 0.1 mm if the object is small .
Or change the preview of the Display to perspective or Ortho
And best part please already update to Revo Metro software , Revo Scan MetroX is already outdated and archived …
Please follow the instruction I just wrote in my last post and open this project in Revo Metro
