Scanning hair with the MIRACO… help

I’m finding scanning hair to be troublesome.

Scanning my head is easy, I’m bald.

Scanning other people’s hair is difficult, it doesn’t seem to matter the mode. I lose tracking, etc.

Still trying to figure out a workflow when it comes to the MIRACO.

Help

Hi!
did you try the settings mentioned here?

Wherever (dark) hair still is hard to scan I use dry shampoo FTW.

Remember: after first scanning the face (i mostly use auto exposure) , before scanning the hair you also can pause the scan, turn auto exposure off and manually increase exposure to your likings so hair is picked up better and than continue scanning.

You can also make two scans, one for the face with one settings (like near mode, high accurracy) and second one for the hair (maybe lower acurracy and dark mode?) and merge these two scans in the post processing. Just make sure you have enough overlapping area in both scans

Give it a go and let us know if it works for you, too.
cheers

Hi @charlesian2000
Miraco relays on features , try to make the hair more clumpy , it can be little gel, or water to get some definition , single hair can’t be scanned , so you need to create some volume for the scanner to pick up , remember the rules , no feature ni tracking, for dark hair make sure the hair are washed and not oily , hair oil will absorb the infrared light , so try using Dark mode to increase the exposure if the Depth sensors .

Start always scanning face and ears before you moving back , take little distance and do not come too closer .
