Revoscan software version in PLY file

Is there a way to have the version of Revoscan that was used to build a .PLY file automatically entered into the header of the .PLY file?

Actually, I’d also like the scanner make and model in the header of the PLY file too. So the full request is:

Could Revo Scan automatically include the following information in the PLY header:

  • Revo Scan software version used to create/export the file (e.g. 6.3.1)

  • Scanner make/model used to create the scan (e.g. Revopoint MINI 2)

For example:

comment created by revopoint 3D
comment Revo Scan version 6.3.1
comment Scanner model Revopoint MINI 2

My application uses Revopoint scanners for dimensional analysis of surface profiles. For industrial inspection and traceability purposes, it is valuable to retain a record of the software version and scanner model associated with each individual scan.

Including this information in the PLY itself is preferable to determining it from the user’s computer or hand-held device, since they may have more than one version of Revo Scan installed.

I previously enquired about including the scanner serial number and understand Revopoint’s reasons for not including this for commercial/security reasons. I am not requesting the serial number as part of this feature.

The software version and scanner model would provide the provenance information I require without uniquely identifying the individual scanner.

It could possibly be setting that can be turned on or off depending on whether the information is needed be the end user or application.
