Revo metro update V5.8.7

Hello everyone,

Since June 15th, 2026, we received the Revo Metro V5.8.7 update.

I have been working with it for about two days now. I am not completely sure what all the changes are, but one click processing seems much faster and the scan results also appear to be better. Overall, the workflow feels slightly faster.

However, I had to downgrade back to V5.8.6.

The main problem is that the software often gets stuck after completing a scan. In my case, around 80% of the scans freeze after finishing, while about 20% process normally. When it gets stuck, the program becomes completely unresponsive and I have to close it through Task Manager.

I think this update needs a hotfix or patch. I am running older hardware, but the software worked great until this update.

My setup:
- i7-8700K
- 128 GB RAM
- 1 TB Samsung 980 EVO NVMe
- GTX 1080 Ti
- RTX 3090

My Revo hardware:

  • Metro X
  • Multi axis turntable
  • 500 mm large turntable

Has anyone found a way to work around this issue?

Another isue im facing is that none of the turntables want to connect true bluetooth anymore . Not to the pc or my phone app im on andriod samsung fold 7

Hi @zundappchef

It is probably your CPU because it is below the minimum requirement for the latest software what should be at least i7 12th-13th Gen and up .
I do tested it on my old windows i7 8th Gen and it takes forever to process but actually never freezing.

You can contact customer@revopoint3d.com for more technical assistance as they can check in your logs and see exactly where the issue happens while processing , it maybe be totally something else . But I suspect the CPU is the issue since the processing part is CPU based.

Please contact them

Regarding the turntables I did scan yesterday without any issues with connecting , check if your location is on because for some reason it can influence the connectivity even if it is not really related with each other.

When you contact the support include the link to this thread for reference and also your Android version and phone specs .

They will tell you how to option the soft logs to check on the crashing .

I have found a temporary workaround for the freezing issue. Instead of clicking ‘Complete’ while the scan is actively running, I now click ‘Pause’ first, wait for one minute, and then click ‘Complete’. If I wait less than 30 seconds, the software still freezes, so I use a full minute to be safe. I will still send them an email to see if we can investigate and fix the root cause of this issue

Hi @zundappchef I guess the CPU need to process it slightly longer and that may cause the crash , but yes please contact the technician as there maybe something else going on interrupting the process in your system and it could be fixed.

Glad you found a way around but that is not the way.

It is the way Nick with i7 8th Gen CPU that is officially not supported with the new software. Only i7 12th Gen and up

You said it, not me

I have similar issues since 5.8.7 it suddenly freezes while scanning and the whole system slows down. like a slideshow. Never had an issue before. I use MetroX scanner.
System:
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-Core Processor, 4300 Mhz, 16 Core(s), 32 Logical Processor(s)
64g of RAM
Windows 11

No the way to work around Nick , but I got your point ! :joy:

Hi @yannick you know the drill my friend, please contact customer@revopoint3d.com to check on the logs .

Of the record, you should not have that issue with the system of yours , so maybe something else is going on .

I will test it tonight on various system with MetroX so maybe I can confirm that issue as well .

How are you mixing two totally different video cards? Resolving this would be my first suggestion - take the GTX out.

I confirm your observation on the i9 13900hx. FPS drops in the viewport as well. Furthermore, restarting the application doesn’t remove the slideshow, which is around 10-20 FPS. Freezing has become more frequent, although it’s not related to the RAM being full. It’s possible the video memory is full. 4060 8GB

Hi @yannick & @Yan

I tested MetroX, MetroY Pro and MetroY Ultra
Laptop Win 11
i9 14th Gen
64 GB
RTX 4060 8 GB

MetroX with 21 K frames , no issues
Metro Y Pro 30K frames no issue
MetroY Ultra 30K frames no issue

Over RAM usage for each 18-19 GB , VRAM around 2GB

MetroX constant speed 59.8 FPS
MetroY Ultra and Pro 90 FPS

Nothing slowing down while scanning or freezing by clicking complete either

If you have issues with your system please record video screenshot of the software showing the issue and send to customer@revopoint3d.com

As I can’t confirm that as a bug or anything else in this case .

All other modes working just fine as usual with the difference that MetroY Pro and Ultra can now capture textures after scanning with laser mode ( firmware update required )

That’s how it works unfortunately. I used to have a project that I’d duplicate and process with new versions to see if I could figure out changes. Super time consuming and unnecessary if there were some patch notes of all the hidden hard-coded things that were changed.

General Observations:

With the noise reduction setting, feels like we’re back to Standard and Advanced fusion. Not that I have a problem with that.

Leaving noise reduction off does seem to keep more of the scan from being culled which is great. Also highlights how much is culled in the non-Metro app so maybe there’s something in this fusion algorithm that can filter down to the structured light scanners.

I went ahead and tested your suggestion.

I removed the extra GPU from the system, put the PC back in place, and worked around the display issues that came with removing a card that was actively being used for my monitors.

Unfortunately, it did not make any difference. The software still behaves the same way.

For reference, I also tested by upgrading to the newer version again and then rolling back to the older version. After downgrading, the problem was resolved again. That makes me think the issue is most likely related to the software update rather than the hardware, since the system was working fine before.

The reason I use both GPUs is that neither the GTX 1080 Ti nor the RTX 3090 has been reliable enough on its own for driving my three 4K displays. I know the specifications suggest that this should work, but in my own setup it has not been stable.

Wel i was going to upgrade my setup close to what you have here
going with a 9950x cpu , 128gb ddr5 6000 ram , rtx 5080 gpu , 2tb 990evo nvme
but now im not to sure if thats a good plan
@PUTV would you recommend a system like that ?

Trying to reproduce with a MetroY Pro.

Specs:
Core Ultra 9 285HX
NVIDIA RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell 16GB GDDR7
64GB (1x64GB) 6400MTs
Samsung 9100 Pro M.2 4TB

I installed the software and it wanted to install a firmware update. Figured I’d try it w/o and w/.

So ran it with the firmware that was in it and V5.8.7.415. And it ran fine. No problems.

Small scan, only 12.5k frames (I’m filling in a bigger scan, where we removed the rubber booties after scanning and had to rescan to get the underlying geometry)

Then I updated the firmware to

And continued to scan.

No problems. Seems to get 1-2fps better performance too with the latest FW.
