requesting that you add the ability to shift from normal, to black to shiny on the fly too. I think that would be a really good enhancement.

Yes that would be great , but the black and shiny settings overwriting the normal exposure and laser power in the scanner firmware , so it is not just software buttons that change brightness but a new profile is loaded . The firmware needs a slightly time to load the overertited profile ( new power levels for the lasers)
It will never change in seconds , but hopefully slightly faster.
