I have a revopoint miraco and the photogrammetric metrology kit. I am scanning a very large vehicle and have run out of the 208 coded markers only covering half at the recommended spacing.
How do I get around the fact the coded marker sets only go up to 208? presumably that’s the maximum permutations that the glyphs can represent?
I don’t know what encoding system the miraco uses but i would imagine at 208 its 8 bit with some other padding i used to be able to use 16 bit encoding and I could just select that
Yes I’ve seen those videos. I started with the coded markers more sparsely distributed but then the photogrammetry stage is very difficult because of the constant errors when there’s not 8 of them in frame.
It’s a 90’s Le mans car, and i need to capture enough of the tub to be able to scan the tub separately and line it all up.
Last week I got to the point where I’d created a global marker file and did a number of small scans (using the + button on the device to advance to a new bit of scanning) and brought them all into revoscan to test that I could scan in parts and it would be positioned based on the global mesh (so merging would be trivial). This seemed to work fine so this morning I’ve spent a lot more time doing fully detailed scans, and now when I merge they’re all coming in on top of each other.
The software element of this scanner is infuriating! I feel like I’ve done the same thing twice and got completely different results.
I’ve just tried again with a new project, scanned a few panels and they all showed up in the correct relative positions based on the global markers when imported in to my computer. I then went back out and resumed the project and added some more scans and those have come in all over the place.
It seems that if the project is restarted at all it forgets it should be aligning the scans to the global marker positions, which also happens when the scanner has a hiccup whilst scanning (suddenly says loading on the screen mid-scan and seems to have lost a load of progress). I assume this is some sort of soft-crash and then resuming starts adding scans to a new project without the setting that tells it to relate the scans to the global markers.
