New Minin2 - I need to scan (ASAP) and create a 2D dxf to waterjet the adaptor plate. Foam is 47.5" by 8" by 1" thick. I have finally flattened the part to what I feel is needed to create the rendering. Question; where do I place tracking dots and how many? I have designed a rail system (x and y axis) to hold the Nini 2 at the required scan distance while manually moving the Mini 2 in both axis directions in hopes the scan will be completed in one or two passes over the entire surface.
I’m not really following what you are trying to do.
As for dots, I believe the mini 2 needs to see at least markers visible at all times to maintain tracking. So depending on your distance from the object will depend on how dense your dot pattern needs to be.
Question; where do I place tracking dots and how many?
You place it on the area you need to capture , with the distance if max 3 cm , making sure at least 4 markets are in the view all times .
47 inches is a very long object for scanning using MINI 2 , it was created for scanning mini objects but if you accepted the challenge you going to use a lot of markers .
Many thanks for your reply. I’m thinking I may have bit off more than I can chew. If the Mini 2 is not the prefered unit, what is? I’m certainly open to suggestions.
I would not use Mini 2 for that for sure , even Revpoint Inspire would be already better for that job because of bigger FOV that needs less markers .
You can still do the job with Mini 2 but you going to waste s lot of markers to make it work , remember 3 cm apart and not more than that , if you can’t get it all at once try to scan in sections and merge later .
Don’t fuse the Mini 2 scans at maximum resolution Lowe it to 0.08 or 0.1 mm and use Advanced mode .
Hard lesson learned. I’m ok with it though. Sadly, I was on line with tech before purchase and not informed of the shortcomings. I ordered the Miraco. Many thanks for your help
