MetroX Tripod Mount

**Tripod mount for the MetroX **

The supplied tray was not secure enough for vertical use.
I chose the standard (1/4’ inch) tripod connection. I use this connection with a quick-release plate from Smallrig.
The two half-shells are also attached with 4 M3x20 screws in threaded inserts.

Looks great! Can you share the file?

Sure, I only had to wait for 24 hours because it is my first project on thingiverse.
Tomorrow you´l get the link in my post.

Amazing, thanks! I noticed the inside of the mount looks scratched. Do you need to sand the interior to make it fit?

No, that was due to the removal of support. The attachment fits perfectly and still has minimal air.

Depending on the printer and filament, you could make a minimal (101%) enlargement in the slicer. However, this was not necessary for me.

I printed with 0.16mm layerhight, 4 walls, 15% gyroid infill on a BambuLab X1C. The filament is BioFusion from extrudr.

Couldn’t believe the supplied mount doesnt allow the scanner to snap in to place, it just sits there held by gravity, terrible design decision

Well @bakerboy, I’ve drawn one up that does…it just needs a little tweak. I too was disappointed with the supplied “tray”, and this fits my QD tripod mount.

I just need to weaken the push on force, and take a slight wobble out, but the idea seems sound enough. I’m just using up some PLA+, PETG would be slightly springier.

I was going to start a new thread aka “Another MetroX Tripod Mount” but the bot decided it was too similar, so apologies to the OP, I’m not trying to bust your thread.

I’m still waiting for my 1/4" x 20 UNC inserts to arrive along with some ASA filament, but the mock up is going to work OK. I still need to tweak the CAD model, but that Revopoint tripod mount is history…

Even got space for the markers too

Great Design, bit different approach than mine: Revopoint MetroX improved Cradle / Holder for Tripod by PrintedForFun | Download free STL model | Printables.com

Cheers, I can see what you’ve done too. PETG is a good choice as it has more give in it for springing into place, but I limited mine to a no support 3D print and orientated the layer lines to give more strength. Last thing I wanted to do was drop the scanner with a layer separation failure.
Either way any of these designs are an improvement on the Revopoint OEM part, and you have to wonder why the scanner never had tripod mounts built in, or a QD release detail/adaptor.
When I finish my design (waiting for better filament material and colour to be delivered right now) I’ll upload it to a 3D print repository.

Actually the initial prototypes/beta-units hat a 1/4 thread build in.
They got rid of it for the production-version (supposedly the insert got quite hot).

Under the rubber-grip there is still the molded 1/4 hole
