I have been testing the MetroX scanner for the past month. The marker mode functions well with one note: you need to increase the exposure to the maximum level, otherwise, the markers may become lost.
However, the feature mode has disappointed me. In the turntable mode, it works somewhat if you place a lot of unique geometry around the object, such as model clay. At the same time, the scanner provides excellent detail, close to the resolution of my stationary SLS scanner, and very precise dimensions. However, scanning in manual mode using the feature mode is impossible due to constant tracking loss and layered frames.
Feature and Auto mode relays on features to keep tracking it proper, what you describe I’d lack of features on your object, 3D structured scanners relays 100% on object features and can’t works proper without or you need to use marker mode to be able to scan it proper.
As you already noticed adding additional objects in Auto mode helped already, that’s how it works .
Laser mode don’t relays on features as it only uses marker mode while scanning , try to do the same on the other modes if your object is short on features.
