Metro Y Pro Lasers not coming on, or come on very briefly

Well, second job and the Metro Y Pro doesn’t seem to be working, I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but the lasers aren’t coming on, or come on for just a second when switching modes and then turn off before I can press start and scan an object or global marker.

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if theres something wrong with the software or hardware. Has anyone else had this experience?

Even if I press start and turn the brightness up, nothing happens. I can see something in the camera view, but no lasers. I just did a scan in full field and it worked but tracking wasn’t good so I thought I’d try a global marker scan, but as I said, now the lasers arent on. I’m in the middle of the job, I don’t want to have to leave and come back.

EDIT*
I’ve swapped from wireless to wired, and tried again, now it’s picking up markers, its the blue lights that have come on around the two cameras, not the lasers (I didn’t know what to expect). Not sure why they didn’t turn on in wireless mode, I will try again

The laser mode works only if you point the scanner on the markers , if not markers detected there is no laser running .

Full Field and Auto mode works and fire up without the need of markers .
2 different technology

The light you see around the camera sensors is a fill light helping out to scan better the surface .

Check if the scanner is pointed at the markers and if the distance is at excellent when using laser mode .

Global markers need to be first created to be used . So please check out the tutorial sections and best Revopedia for more info .

Full Field is not a laser mode so different technology than a Laser mode but can be used with markers or not , practice on the bust that was included to learn your new tool a little bit before jumping on big waters .

If you still have issues with the lasers not showing up when you point out in the markers please contact customer@revopoint3d.com for technical assistance and help in the first steps

Thanks PUTV I’ll check that out.

So ignore my comments on the laser, I am mistaken. It was the blue FILL lights that weren’t coming on in global marking scanning mode. I have an idea about why it didn’t work and I will update this thread later.

Oh no, not the bust!.. big waters all the way, I’ve got some impressive scans from the machine so far, just playing around with projects at home to get to a feel for how the machine performs. I’ve been treating the scans like projects, taking everything I think I need, seeing how long it takes me to get the data “on site”, how long batteries last, how long it takes to process the data etc. so I can provide accurate quotes if I go in to business next year.

This a little project I’m doing on customising some components of my GSX-S1000GT. 0.5mm scan and 0.41mm (recommended) mesh.

And this was a scan for a friend who needed something rough and quick for general clearances of an exhaust. I set the scanner to 2mm and meshed at 1mm or 2mm I can’t recall exactly but it came out with a lot more detail than I needed and we were both very happy with it.
