After scanning some different items with the Metro Y Pro, I feel like the tracking in full field could be improved. There are other scanners on the market that support tracking based on Markers, Geometry/Features, and Textures. It even allows Geometry + Markers, or even Geometry + Markers + Textures. The Metro Y Pro has all of these features built into the hardware.
I scan many items that I can not place dots on. Improvements to the full field mode would be a huge advantage. I hope these option are under development or consideration.
You should purchase Trackit, as it don’t need to use any markers to scan objects for the same reason is it pricey.
Laser mode requires markers for tracking since they can’t scan without it or use texture tracking . So the option here is not available .
Full Field requires feature rich objects since it is structure light technology and will not scan flat objects without features or markers .
Texture tracking for Full Field would be an option to consider . But MetroY Pro don’t have the option to scan with color using Full Field. Only using Auto mode with single shot
On top the scanner Full Field use a blue light , and blue light with color scanning not so good combination since not all colors will be visible for tracking due to absorption of the blue light.
for that reason it is not a good candidate to use texture tracking . This type of tracking would works ideally with infrared scanners , less with Blue light scanners .
