Hey Guys, still working through the processes, getting the skills.
When scanning heads I lose tracking, no matter how steady or slow I go.
Any advice?

Number for be issue is expressions , you can’t move your head/face while scanning , you going to lose tracking .
The best way to practice is pit chair next to wall and rest the head on the wall and then scan slowly , starting always from the center of the face then move around to finish the full process .
Don’t scan side/back head in Near mode , not enough tracking for it
I get the subject to not move, and all is well until I get to a cheek, the the previously scanned part of the face seems to lose alignment, some tracking then leaves artifacts everywhere.
I think I should record a video.
It lose tracking because there is nothing to track ,visual scanners need tracking points at least 3 cm apart in Near Mode and minimal 3 of them visible .
Take the scanner off to Good distance in Near mode , or try Far mode .
I never had issues btw and I scan people for living .
Video would be good , maybe something else is on the hand .
I’ve been using excellent distance, I’ll try good and see how I go.
Far was too muddy for scanning the e details of a face.
I know but that are the requirements of scanning using structured light technology, you need a features in your preview or you going to lose tracking .
Try to use single scan mode instead , start from the air , then go to the eyes , nose , lips , it will give you good foundation for tracking , you can move the scanner away to good stance in areas that have less features .
I did that millions times , it working great !
The difference I am using is transparent mineral powder on the skin … to prevent the skin scattering and better details captured , maybe it would help .
Hi! Can you maybe share the product name of that transparent mineral powder you use? ![]()
It is not actually make up but transparent mineral powder that removing the redness from the skin , stop oils from scattering the infrared light adding much more details to the skin surface , it is barely visible after application , less is more and best to use with a brush .
Even great on dark eyebrows and beards … it don’t cover the color yet the scanner capture better the darker hair .
It can be seriously any mineral powder as long it is HD ( very fine ) and pressed so you don’t turn people into zombies ![]()
We use it also for capturing skin textures because it remove reflections and is virtually not visible .
However before usage , wash your face with cold water to reduce skin oil , it will works longer and less is needed .
Thank you, I have no issues applying a powder puff to peoples faces.
Mwahahahahaharrrr.
I’ll go to the local Chemist Warehouse and get some.
