I have a problem with nVidia GPU on the latest software version RevoScan X. When GPU acceleration is on, the software is almost not responding and when finally scan starts, it scans 2-3fps (despite showing 45+fps). It gather 50 frames during minute scan and lags in the viewport badly. When CPU acceleration is on, it scans true ~50fps and performance is great. Also during performance check my CPU performance is very good, GPU is poor. On previous software version everything was ok and GPU acceleration was working.
I have no issues with my GPU and it is actually double faster than CPU .
Do not leave the software while scanning is on because it will slow down the performance of your GPU if you open other software at the same time where RSX is not in the main window.
BTW please contact customer@revopoint3d.com for technical advice regarding your issue since it is related to your system .
If you have 2 GPUs make sure you set the right GPU to run the software on .
I didn’t see any problems on my desktop i9-10900F/128Gb/RTX4070 with all acceleration options enabled.
P.S. I also have a laptop with AMD R7 8845/32Gb with integrated Radeon 780M (it doesn’t have GPU acceleration, but the scanning speed in laser mode is 42-45fps and the only problem with this laptop is the small amount of RAM)
It’s possible that you have some kind of conflict between the AMD processor and the nVidia video card.
Hi @OBN_RacerMan the speed with CPU is never greater than 45-47 at max , never saw it reaching 50 fps as that would be a job for GPU acceleration. So if the CPU is faster than a GPU acceleration , the system needs serious check.
@PUTV , thanks for support. I have some idea to check later today. I remember that the problem occurs when I’m connected to external display, but have to verify it, to be sure. Will confirm later.
To check performance I have unplugged scanner and closed all other apps (like test suggest), so that’s not the case.
That actually could be the reason but it would be easy to check out on your side.
You can try to turn off GPU rendering off in RSX , and keep just GPU acceleration ON, sometimes it helps .
I had once issue like that on my other PC in a past with slightly lower lower graphics card , had to adjust the GPU settings under Nvidia Profile and set it on performance .
With the card you are running you should be at maximum capacity when using GPU acceleration. If I know no better something is bottlenecking your GPU while usage. Contact customer@revopoint3d.com if you run out of options please.
You can include link to this thread as a reference . Make some short video showing the GPU acceleration performance. The technician team can check the logs to know exactly what’s happening.
I owe you my findings related to the problem I described. I have performed performance test without external display and it was still not ok. So I checked display settings related to the specific software and it seems that during installation of new Revo Scan, the old settings were gone and windows was using built in graphic card instead of RTX. I have forced it to use RTX and my performance test went flawless. Thanks for support.
Hi @schwepes thank you for letting me know , this has happened once to me as well long time ago when using additional monitor , I forgot to let you know about that option to assign the proper GPU to your software what is actually easy task by just right clicking the icon of the software and adding the proper GPU , or via Nvidia Panel
Glad you found it out by yourself and restored the performance !
