Gimbal/Jib use with MetroX

Trying to get a stationary setup that scans objects more effectively, and I need to see if anyone has had luck with adapting the MetroX to a jib or boom arm type situation. It’s amazing being able to get great scans with my shaky hands, but I’m scanning often and plan to scan a lot more so scanning by hand is becoming unfeasible.

I get great scan results with a constant pan/rotate motion that I think could be replicated with some good videography gear, but I have no idea what fits the profile of the Metro. Surely this space has been explored before. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Hi

I see two options which I was thinking about to replace my arm :flexed_biceps:t3::

either using a motorized “linear” camera slider (many out there to buy or DIY ones) or a robotic arm with sufficient payload which movement can easily be programmed by using the “lead through programming” aka programming by demonstration method.

I just use simple microphone desktop arm , still moving back and forth but not using my arm power as much as holding it for so long in laser mode not my favorite thing .
It solved my issue

It is definitely doable. Here you have one example, using a set of rail guides:

In my case I wanted something for small flattish surfaces.
