Fifth scanning mode for the MetroX unlocked!

Yes, it’s a bit clickbait… but it worked!

Let me explain the background first:

I wanted to use my MetroX in the same way as I used my Mini, for scanning very oblongue, or very flat items. For that, I got the idea to use a linear guide, as explained here:

As the MetroX is way heavier than the Mini, I had to rework completely the setup, now with 3 rails instead of only one, but it was definitely doable

The only problem… which mode should I use? I definitely wanted to extract as much fine detail as possible, so autoturntable was the only valid option. So… what if I trick RevoscanX with a turntable, with a setting to allow me the biggest interval between scans

and then simply use the scanner as I wish on my rails?

Well, this is how it looks like:

And the initial results are really fine, pretty good level of detail for a first trial:

The next step should be to fully automate it with some stepper motors, an Arduino to control it… but I’m afraid I don’t have enough time for that :frowning: and doing it manually works just fine
