Creating a Digital Twin for Car Mods with MetroY Ultra

Forget the traditional struggle of manual measurements. Garage Tinkering just kicked off their latest project by digitizing a vehicle with the MetroY Ultra.

Capturing car body data is usually a headache, especially when dealing with subtle deformations and complex positioning. With the MetroY Ultra, the team bypassed the struggle, capturing not just the essential body lines but even the fine text details on the vehicle.

By importing these scans into their 3D design software, they now have a reliable reference for custom parts and structural mods. We cannot wait to see the finished masterpiece once Garage Tinkering brings these designs to life!

over80% of time is preparation and remove reflective marker

question: if the car paint is black, which mode would prefer for scanning? black object or metallic shinny object?

Hi Ken

It will depends of the black paint , you will need to try it by yourself , it is not really about the color , it is based on the material used for make that paint .

I would try with black object and Auto setting in Depth Exposure to get maximum power , if is not enough you can switch to shiny metal .

I agree the marker placement and removing is heck of a job that I highly dislike it , that why I have Trackit

I’ve found shiny metal to work better with glossy black paints.
