Align to Coordinate System Using Surface Approximation in RevoScan

Hi @Straww

So you telling me that you took all the efforts to sign into a community of product that you are not using or own , just to tell everyone that you will not purchase it because it is lacking some 3D editing function ? Yet other company product is better ? Very thoughtful of you ! And please do not shame me for my reply to you. Be ashamed of your original entitled lame post !

So let me explain here the fundamental information you may missing .

The primary purpose of 3D scanning software is to generate an accurate point cloud. While additional editing features are useful, they are not always fundamental to the scanning process itself, especially since point-of-origin compatibility varies across different third-party platforms. For those requiring dedicated editing tools, Revopoint has developed Revo Design specifically for that purpose.

While we welcome all feedback within this community, we aim to maintain a productive environment focused on the hardware’s core capabilities. If you require advanced 3D modeling or editing functionality beyond what our scanning software provides, we recommend utilizing a dedicated professional editing suite like Revo Design or other 3D application focusing primarily on 3D editing what is of course a totally different branch of 3D scanning.

Have a nice day and thank you for your feedback. In the future please avoid making any kind of advertising and pointing to competitors products in our community as it is against the TOS.

I created an account specifically to provide feedback because this feature request has been discussed for some time, and I wanted to add my perspective as a potential customer. That was my only intention.

If my original wording came across as harsh, that wasn’t meant personally. The feature genuinely impacts my purchasing decision.

Mentioning a competitor was not intended as advertising, but simply to illustrate that this functionality is technically feasible within scanning software and therefore, in my view, a reasonable expectation. It was meant as context, not promotion.

I appreciate the clarification regarding the intended scope of the software. My feedback is aimed at potential product improvement and reflecting user workflow needs, nothing more.

In any case, I’ve shared and explained my perspective as a potential customer, and I’ll leave it at that.

Thank you for the clarification regarding your requirements; having a clearer understanding of what you are looking for is very helpful.

Moving forward, it would be beneficial to establish these details at the outset to ensure we are aligned from the beginning of the process.

Regarding the specific feature you requested, it is unfortunately not available at this time due to technical constraints.

Reasons ? Changing the original scan position of a 3D model impacts every data point within the project folder. Consequently, implementing this feature is not possible until the model is fully processed as a mesh for export. This complexity is also why the archiving process of the new feature requires a significant amount of time to be complete . That where I mentioned the scanning and 3D editing clashing with each other as that are 2 different things to be processed by the software yet are totally independent things.

While it is not currently feasible, the team hope to make this functionality available in the near future once these technical hurdles are resolved.

I hope it explains at least partially why it is not yet available and why it have not much to do with 3D scanning or processing of 3D scans and for that reason not a priority.
