I like using this marker tower for having more random pattern or even use it for feature tracking because of its irregular shape. These are 6mm markers on it.

Hi I am a fan of these 3d printed scanning towers.I put miraco scanning markers and use them upright or lying down depending on shape and size of the object for great tracking in marker mode (and even feature mode). Depending on editing needs there are different (free) softwares available.
