Also needs hotkeys for size (and strength if it happens).
Also a way to limit the depth it penetrates into the model. Now that we’re all scanning cars and helicopters the “don’t select backfaces” button doesn’t do the job.
For that you need pick only eraser brush , what would be great as noises eraser . I never saw one brush that do picks and valleys at the same time , they always separate .
Again ? It was just fixed , how many times the back faces button stopped working again
Sensitivity of smoothness , right now it have only scale of the brush , the smoothness level is at maximum , you want to adjust the smoothness level for less or more smoothing option according to the needs .
While you’re at it, if we can choose tool size and tool strength, it would be good if we could use CTRL+mouse wheel to adjust the strength and ALT+mouse wheel to adjust the size.
Not sure why “color/no color” suddenly needs so much screen real estate. Ideally, things that affect the viewport should be icons on that nearly empty strip at the bottom of the screen whose only purpose seems to be saying “No 3D scanner was found.” I would include the “Rendering” settings as well as the interface hints in the upper left in order to un-clutter the viewport. This is especially helpful since the interface appears fixed at 1920x1080 and only scales that resolution up for higher resolution screens on Windows (on Mac the interface scales correctly so it’s not as annoying to have clutter).
Speaking of clutter, how long does the average user require instructions on the screen? I’m sure the answer isn’t “forever.” And why do I need to know that there is no 3D scanner found if I’m not on the Scan tab?
There is also the long-standing issue of the “…” menu being disabled in the scan list on the Merge tab. As it is, the left-hand panel isn’t wide enough to accommodate the check box, default project timestamp names, and the “…” menu. Either enable it or get rid of it. I did use it when it worked, btw. But I’d rather have the full default file name visible so I know what I’m selecting without waiting for a tooltip to show the last identifying digits.
I also have a hatred of the One-click Edit panel, as I never use it and it’s always selected for me whenever I select a scan. If we can’t have persistence of tabs, please give me an option to remove the One-click Edit tab altogether.
Finally, can we have more information on what “UI changes” “Fixes some bugs” and “Optimizes the user experience” actually are? I have my own personal list of things I consider either broken or sub-optimal and it’d be nice to know if any of them are addressed without going through a bunch of tests with the new version to try and find out on my own.
Apologies if I sound grumpy today.
For reference, here are the Mac and Windows UIs, both at 2560x1440:
You have no idea how many users don’t know that clicking on the previous icon would set the color on and off .
Same for the short cuts on the screen left top
Nobody ever see them …
I do agree the empty space below on the right corner would be much better I prefer the top to be free visually .
Thank you for these suggestions. We will pass them on to the software interface designers to see what ideas they have and how to optimize. As for the specific details regarding UI updates, I will inquire about the possibility of making them publicly available. Thank you!
