I replied in another thread that actually pertains to the MetroX. Now that I better understand how this forum works, I’m linking that message here, as I believe it provides a clear summary of why the program isn’t performing as well as it could.
No RevoScan5 don’t use GPU for processing because it is CPU based software.
RevoScan MetroX is totally different software with different needs and it use GPU acceleration while scanning using Laser mode. It also requires multi core processor at least 8 and multi treading at least 16 so the 2 should be not mixed with each other.
RevoScan5 don’t need GPU acceleration. It can run on any GPU .
And it only uses CPU for processing what will depends on the speed of your SSD and how fast it can write it down.
It do not use GPU acceleration as there is no need for that. It is only used for laser modes exclusively while scanning.
I know RevoScan5 is not the fastest when it gets about processing , but the reason for that is , because everyone was complaining in the past that the CPU runs on full power and majority complaining about their precious CPU.
Yes that is true .. so Revopoint reduced the usage , you can’t make everyone happy .
However there is a new software in the making that will address many of it in the future so please be patient.
I am testing it currently and the CPU speed it optimal with multi treading , however opening any other window will automatic reduce the usage of CPU to avoid bottleneck of the system.
So that’s all I can say to this topic , RevopointScan5 and MetroX software will stay CPU based but greatly improved in the near future as it progressing it’s evolution.
First of all, thank you for the responses. I look forward to future software updates and to seeing how its development progresses, with the goal of getting the most out of the scanner on our computers.
