Hi everyone, we’re new to the forum, looking forward to typing.
Let’s not waste any time.
We currently have a Mini 2 scanner
PC:
E5-2680V4
128gb ddr4
RTX 4060 8gb
2.5tb nvme ssd(3 nvme)
We noticed that the post process is damn slow, Fusion and mesh processing are the biggest problem.
I monitored how the processor behaves when waiting and I have to emphasize the first thing, I didn’t notice that only 1 core was nailed at max load, all of them are equally nailed.
Now I’m interested in one question that I couldn’t find an answer to, what’s the situation with the Revo Metro program?
We plan to order MetroY Pro in a few days, but we’re worried about this situation with that post processing, will the situation be better with this current PC on Revo Metro Scan 5.8.5 than on Revo Scan 5.5.5? or is there currently no solution. Thanks!
Same situation with a very similar configuration. I was thinking about buying a xeon e5-1680v3 and overclocking it for higher single core performance. Honestly, this problem is make crazy.
The processing using other CPUs than Intel are still work in progress , and there is nothing you can do to make it faster, just make sure you use the fastest hard drive on your system for processing your projects .
The reason it don’t use all your CPU cores is the software.
In the future the other processors will be improved and work more efficiently in Revo Scan as the developing team is working on it .
Processing MINI-series projects can be very time costly even when using Intel CPU , due to its exceptional amount of points and fusing point settings.
I run on i9 14th Gen CPU, and sometimes it takes even 30 min to process very heavy models not only in Revo Scan but also in other software I am using.
If you want faster processing , clean the scans before fusing from all not nesesery parts, fuse it at the right point distance , not everything need to be in highest settings , mesh it at the sane GRID settings as you used for Fusing .
3D scanning is a very time consuming process and I understand your frustrations , but for now that’s all I have for you .
Thanks for the answer! Of course, I have everything on NVME disks, from the program itself to storing scans and models.
Okay, I’m curious if the situation is better with Metro? Because it scares me how much time it takes for 1-2 million points, and with Metro I make that amount of points in one go, and yet MetroY Pro is exactly what we need for the Automotive Industry. Honestly, we don’t want to move away from your scanners because everything suits us, just not the speed haha.
1-2 milion polygons takes maybe couple of seconds .
I am talking here about 100-150 million of poly scan.
In this case something is wrong and that is not the software .
Please contact customer@revopoint3d.com
Include a link to our conversation here and let them check your logs , as that is a very slow processing even for one core , just impossibly slow.
Make sure you include the info that the scans are very small for the amount of time they processing.
Usually scans above 9 milion polygons can start to take slightly longer processing like texturing , meshing or decimating ( simplifying) .. but anything below 9 milion should take couple of seconds regardless .
The only issue with processing time on small scans I ever experienced was when I used portable USB Hard Drive .
I am sure the technician will find solution for you .
Please let me know when you get the solution !
RevoScan 6 is almost absolutely perfect! It solved my problem of the entire process taking too long, moreover, the Mini 2 works much better than before, there are much less losses! I am absolutely DELIGHTED with the improved things in RevoScan 6.
I have a couple of minuses or I just didn’t see them. The large two-axis turntable II, its window no longer has a pin icon and therefore I have to constantly close and open it if I want to control the turntable, while before the window was always available.
And the option to rename the entire scan in the Current Group is definitely missing. Everything else is perfect!
That’s the team, thanks! I am writing and recording scans with MetroY Pro soon, we started the channel just for this reason because we have a lot in the auto industry to scan.
