i merged some scans together after i fused the pointcloud and noticed a rapid decline in quality with each merge.
For example my original part scan has something around 6-8mil points. After merging some parts the quality drops to 3mil points for all merged parts together resulting in a huge quality loss.
Why is that?
I also noticed that simplify doesnt work as intended. It doesnt create an even spacing between the points but reduces in oatches and some parts still have the original dense point cloud resolution.
Yes it does. And i can also see the point amount of the cloud declining aswell. Part scan 6-8mil points and merged some parts i end up with 3mil point for the whole object. So revo scan reduces the point amount when you apply the merge.
No one merge function in other software actually doing it after merging.
That’s not desired results.
And should not doing it as remeshing would change the quality of the accuracy when done on point cloud, this is something for after the meshing when you remesh the scan to equalize the surface and points.
Regarding the other issue I will investigate it tonight and send report to the team to check it out closer.
I also experience this. I also see overlapping merges lose surfaces rather than fill in the gaps, and after several merges the software can no longer automatically align the scans, despite theoretically being supplied “more and more” information.
