Range 1 - Caterpillar D10T Dozer Cab Door Scan

🔷 Project Highlight 🔷 📐 From Scan to Solution

We recently 3D scanned the cab door of a Caterpillar D10T Dozer using the Revopoint Range and processed the data in Revo Scan 5.

From the scan, we built a precise CAD model of the door—capturing every curve and contour. That became the foundation for designing a custom swinging Mesh Protector Screen that fits perfectly and is ready for fabrication!

Real-world accuracy meets digital design 👌

I used Blu-tak for markers for this particular scanning project and it worked really well!

I think the latest version of the software has brought huge improvements to scan quality and reliability, even when using the original version of this scanner that I bought from Kickstarter a couple of years ago

And Dry Shampoo from the local supermarket was used as the scanning spray, lol, to dull down the shiny surface.

And people moan that Revopoints new scanners make the old ones obsolete, perfect proof this is far from the case.

Any reason you used feature mode rather than marker mode?

TBH, I’ve forgotten if I used feature or marker mode, lol.

I think I used marker, because during the scan, it was highlighting the bits of Blu-tak as markers (with a red dot).

But anyway, it turned out to be a high quality scan with the accuracy we needed to design the Mesh Protector
