Revoscan 5.5.4, Mini scanner, white plaster figurine
I have a small figurine(6inch high) I’ve been trying to scan.
Ive tried horizontal swaths as it turns on the turntable, vertical swaths that I try to merge.
The problem is possibly with my workflow.
It wont merge without overlapping surfaces - i tried merging then deleting overlap data before fusion, but the merge reset and failed
The overlapping surfaces wont align and creates horrible artifacts - an unwanted texture and lines along the edge of the overlap. It seems the overlapping surfaces cannot decide which surface to use and swaps between them
Make sure your clean proper the all scans you going to merge and after merge clean it again , you got there a double layer , probably overlapped frame , you can try to remove that frame(s) unsung the raw editor to get rid of it if the cleaning don’t works .
You can also try to clean your merged point cloud in Cloud Compare , it will get rid of all overlapped points as well .
The mesh will only be as good as it’s point cloud , if there are error the mesh will show up all the imperfections.
This question is often asked. Maybe it could be a great tutorial to help ppl struggling with those overlapping bad points ? Maybe in Revo Metro/scan / Cloud Compare ?
