MetroY Pro vs MetroX

While it’s fine for what it is, the orientation of this is not great. If I did it again, I think I’d stand it up on the back so the barrel was pointing up at about 30deg.

I did 100% infill so it really feels real.

Thank you for the photo. I think you layed it out the same way I would have. I also think the orientation will give you the most strength–more drop proof when you miss draw or holstering. I also like the color. Is it a silk filament or just the light?

I don’t think it’ll break, it’s chunky. Not quite as heavy as the real thing, but close. I’ll get a scale out and see.

simple red filament

I was wrong, the dummy is no where near the same weight.
The real pistol is 2lbs 4.6oz and the dummy is 12.8oz.
The grip is not as ‘grippy’ either.

Meh, still useful. And totally impressive that this model came right off the scanner with zero intervention.

I continue to be impressed by Revopoint’s hardware/software. In particular, the improvements in software over the year I’ve had it is nothing short of phenomenal. Can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

I would like to see a on the fly shift from normal, to black, to shiny. I think this would be a good addition and all the big players in the industry can do this - on the fly.

Yea, I didn’t think it would be nearly the same weight. I know that some folks make a thick but hollow 3d prints and fill them with sand/shot and then cap it off. This way you can control the weight to make it the same.

A “hot knife” is good for retexturing the stippling/knurling of the grip of the dummy. Since your dummy is solid, there is no danger of “breaking through”.

Good luck at your next ISPC/IDPA.

My best friend from out of town showed up and we were talking about the scanning to print.

So I fired up the ‘Y and scanned his Echelon in about 30 minutes we were sending the file to the printer. The next morning it was done and he was quite impressed.

Riding on the success, we did a Glock19 too. It was a little trickier as it didn’t want to orient properly, so I printed it on the sights upside down. Also ran out of filament part way and what I thought was the same was not, close, but not quite the same color.

Thge ‘Y is really impressing me with it’s ability
