MetroY Pro USB Power

Hello,

I recently saw this topic on YouTube, but thought I would ask the forum this question.

I would like to be able to use the MetroY Pro while carrying the battery in my pocket (for example).

Can I use a USB extension cable between the Revopoint Battery and the standard MetroY Pro USB cable ? The cable spec is ;

USB-C Male to Female Extension Cable USB 3.2 Gen2 PD 100W 20Gbps CAU620 - 2m ( T_CAU620 )

I would say No.

The cable is not a standars USBc cable. So it will not get the power it needs using an extension cable.

Hi Mike

Yes you can use it , the mobile cable is just a power cable, no data flows through it . It is only used for powering and connection via WiFi and I use one too with battery pack in my pocket lol

Hello, I’m also looking to try this solution. I ordered the cable pictured, but it’s supposed to arrive by the end of the month. This option with the stock long cable should also work: https://aliexpress.ru/order-list/5546714224510305?spm=a2g2w.orderlist.0.0.7b864aa6L5rqHb&filterName=active I’ll test it this week.

The MetroY fits really well in the hand. It’s much worse with a tripod.

Hi @Berear

What Mike is asking is simple power cable extension to use it with WiFi and power bank

You can use any USB C cable for that purpose.

But in your case you are replacing the data cable and I can’t guarantee you that it will works since MeyroY Pro has its own unique cables that support both power and data

Unless it is just a power cable to support the WiFi … But make sure you use the proper power source to power the MetroY Pro , you can find the numbers on the AC adapter and the battery pack .

Yes, that’s a good point. I bought this male cable for Metrox. A local Telegram group suggested this solution. Everything works fine for this person. As far as I understand, the cables for Metrox and MetroY are identical. But I’ll definitely check the polarity and voltage with a multimeter.

The cables for both MetroY and MetroY Pro are identical , MetroY Pro just using slightly more power but not higher voltage as both AC adapters are the same .

Remember not to plug it in the wrong power source, if it get damage the warranty will be voided especially when aftermarket cables was used while on the warranty.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your advice….

It works

2m Cable, you can see the readout on the tiny battery, 82 percent , in PD mode. Scanning is very smooth in wireless mode.

No problem Mike !
For WiFi it is a perfect solution ! The low capacity of the original power bank made me using the cable and my 50.000 Am power bank the day I got the scanner.
