MetroX information window

MetroX, please move the information window. For example, at least like this. Adjusting the exposure during scanning covers the entire viewport field.
Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback @Snakegreen
I will forward it to our team

BTW one tip : never adjust the exposure while scanning using laser mode , it will create different levels of ridge on the surface .

What is the proper way to adjust. Pause the scan, adjust, and then start back up?

You should not adjust the exposure while scanning

Do that before clicking scan button
Or make small tests scans to adjust the proper values as this will affect greatly the results.

You can set also on auto , start scanning then pause and set back to manual . So your settings reminds steady to the rest of the scanning process .

Changing back and forth exposures will change how the surface appears after scanning resulting in uneven surfaces in different locations .
This only for Laser Mode

But in auto mode it switches back and forth pretty quickly. How is that different?

Auto mode uses it’s own mode , different type of capture even from Full Field and laser so Auto exposure can be used .

Laser mode use so fine lines as frames so if each frame have different laser level brightness it will be visible on the surface by individual frames lines

Different types of capture and modes for all of them.

Same if you scan object using Full Field that have contrast like white surface with darker laters or parts, the brighter areas will be higher than the darker areas.
That’s the nature of Structured Light technology and why 3D spray should be used to even the contrast on the surfaces for best results .

But alas, sometimes you have to. There are parts with different surfaces. This method is the norm in Scanform.

sorry, I spoke wrong. I meant auto exposure in laser mode. When that is selected I can see it switch back and forth when I am scanning. How is any different from me switching exposure manually as I scan?

The norm in scanning is that you need to use 3D spray if there are different surface colors to avoid any issues and never scanning surfaces with contrasting colors . To avoid shifting in accuracy when using Structured light scanners .

Especially when using laser mode .
Why struggling when you have a proper solution .

You want to go the hard way, the results can be your own error.

It’s the same for both , no difference
Just put your scanner lines on the object while it is in auto exposure mode , then when it adjust itself just turn it back to manual .

The settings will stay on and not change

When you scanning with laser mode and you have different colors object vs the background it will switch back and forth
And create different levels of frames that will create ridges on the surface

Also some white objects don’t need the laser brightness to be set on anything but 0
So test it out before scanning .
Test small fragment and see how good it capture the fragment with your current brightness settings.

Some will need 0 others 50% or more depends on its color .
