In front of you is the cover of a car compressor. I fell, I crashed, I need to help a person. I didn’t use mattifying spray on purpose. although this part is also black and shiny. Four scans, the edges were cut off at the point cloud stage. Everything came together perfectly, now the reverse is in print.
Very nice work @Snakegreen !
Don’t forget to enter the contest for mechanical part scans .
Thanks for reminding me!
No problem !
Hi Michael,
great detailed scan. But what do you mean with “the edges were cut off”? How did you manage the scanning of the thin walls?
Thomas
Hi Thomas , when you scanning multiple scans , you need to prepare the point cloud before merging , this means cleaning them and sometimes trim the edges ( cut off) because not always you need the full scan , trimming the parts that are not needed will result in smoother merged object without additional artifacts to deal with after .
Okay, good hint. Will try to scan parts with thin edges.
@Michael: could you show the 4 single scans, please?
Hi!
I mean, I cut off the edges of the scans at the borders where the scanner couldn’t see in the current scan to reduce stitching noise. The walls of the part are 2 mm thick, they did not leave any problems in the laser mode.
Thanks!
