Metro Y hardware requirements

Another user stated to get very decent scanning performance with his metro y pro and the same configuration.

Just need to open it from security as it’s unverified developer: For testing I have a Macbook Air M4 16GB ram, and it scanned at 47-50fps. I thought that was damn good tbh for a circa £1000 device, and so the need to beef my PC up and add an RTX is obviously not that important for a scanning machine.

Yet, be aware, your RAM is below even the minimum requirements, and RAM size is crucial for processing the point cloud later on. Depending on the resolution and the size of the object you will be limited sooner than you think.

As the RAM prices on Apples are even more expensive than on windows PCs, you maybe might consider some good used/refurbished PC offer (DDR4 is just fine)

Hi @gk95 Inte CPUl is most faster at this moment regardless if you have proper GPU or not , MAC don’t use GPU acceleration so I would definitely go for Windows system in combination with Rebopoint scanners. Also with the RAM , 32 GB is on the edge , personally would not go with less than 64 GB , but it depends what you going to scan and what size of objects you are going to scan.
