Got acquainted with Metro X - marker questions

Ok,
so I connected Metro to new Revoscan MetroX - updated firmware on the scanner, Revoscan Metro X version is 5.6.1.82, so the newest there is.
Everything works fine I guess.
I have created my own tracking objects (black with reflective markers all over). They are mostly covered in the 3mm markers - I also added a few 6mm markers on them.
Q1. Is there any reason NOT to mix marker sizes? They seem to work fine on both MetroX and Miraco but maybe the tracking algorithm assumes that all visible markers are the same size?

Q2. Marker mode + Full Field
I tracked Full Field in feature mode - it works.
I tracked Cross lines and Parallel lines in marker mode - it works
I tracked the marker cloud in global marker mode - it works.
But when I’m trying to scan Full Field mode in marker mode - the scanner doesn’t see the markers - they blip in and out, mostly the larger 6mm ones, but I never see enough of them to actually make a scan.
Is there something unique about Full Field Marker mode?
Does it require 6mm trackers?

Hi Filip

That’s really weird behavior .
I have different sizes of markers on my plate but the markers should be not closer than 3 cm from each other , make sure you have a proper angle of the scanner to markers . Take it in s hand and run above the markets and see how it responds.

Yeah, it does seem full field mode has worse marker visibility.

I scanned over 200 hours with MetroX with various devices , markers never was the problem for me

So make sure you check the calibration because that is first sign if the markers are not visible .

MetroX can see 6mm markers only the manual says.

No, it also sees 3mm ones but you need to be closer.
From what I understand, the markers are registered when they are illuminated by the scanner light - that’s why they are reflective.
Laser lines are much brighter that the full field light - probably that’s why lasers have an easier time “seeing” the small markers.
Not really a problem, just a good to know

I don’t think im laser line mode the scanner detects the markers using the laser reflection. That wouldn’t work as a marker would not be a circle but a line. Maybe it’s the other way round: The strong and structured laser light in full field mode might confuse the marker detector.

That being said, I haven’t experienced issues with full field marker mode. But I only used 6mm dots.

When you guys scan different size markers do you see different sizes markers in your cloud and scans? I only see one size for both 3 & 6mm markers. It would be nice to be able to use 3, 6, and 10mm markers and have them all recognized. I would think that would help with tracking as well.

Hi! I use 3mm and 6mm and they are both the same size in the final scan. Something that will surely be corrected in future software versions.

Yeah, exactly
